Blank Launcher

Hello,
I tried to load the FFXIV launcher multiple times this evening and evey time it pops up with just a white box with the loading icon when i hover over it - which then turns to 'this program is not responding'.

I play on PC (not though steam). The launcher worked perfectly fine yesterday, there were no updates to my computer over night. I run windows 7.
I have tried going into my files and loading up ffxivboot instead but I get the same problem. I can't run ffxivupdater as it tells me to load ffxivboot instead.

Any clues as to why it has suddenly broken and how I can fix it?

The launcher is essentially a webpage that runs inside Internet Explorer so even if it's not the browser you normally use, load up IE and delete the temporary internet files (cache) and then reload the launcher and it'll be load again.
