Allow Alts to have access in Personal Housing

I think this should have been implemented long time ago. I don't understand why Square Enix have not allowed the player's alts to also have access to the personal housing plot if they own one.

The plots are already limited, and I own a plot. But I don't feel like buying another plot for each alts one by one. It's a lot of money and a lot of time wasted. Alts should be allowed to share the usage of main's plot in the same server to repair, garden, manage chocobos and also teleport.

If anything the alts and people who share the house should get rooms. But my main focus of suggestion is allowing alts to use the house.

Honestly, with the current housing system, it's beyond silly they didn't make it account wide and allow each character on said account to access it. This would severely limit people's ability to scoop up multiple houses to flip. What makes it even more frustrating is you're essentially forced into doing just that if you intend to upgrade. Like, I want a medium come Stormblood but already have a small. My only choices are to sell/abandon my current one now and hope I get lucky a second time or shift it over to an alt, try for a new one and then abandon it. All when a simple upgrade system-- where upon purchasing a larger house, the old's current value is subtracted from the price-- would fix this. Keep the difference even. Just allow the upgrade.

Put simply. The housing system is a mess in FFXIV. And the devs to look at potential overhauls, not keep adding onto an already broken system.

Probably because its considered an alternate. Same reason they don't share relics and such >.>. SO technically a whole different character with different inventory and such which in a weird common sense type of way is the purpose of an alternate? Now if your plot is a FC that is a different story. Then again you can just switch leadership between them and such or be a one man FC and use extras to your advantage. You can send via mail items that can be in market though.

And here I am just wanting to be able to mail stuff to my alts :/ lol

SE system is a bit broken, imo, when it comes to what is allowed and the availability they have. If I read the number right in a previous thread if housing was cross server cross data center there would not be enough houses anyways, so while the moving server suggestion that is popular would help a bit.. there would still be issues. But I'd do what you suggest if I was going to sweep up another house for myself. Easier or harder depending on your situation.

Assuming people actually use their alts they will be able to quickly whip a FC together and spend the short amount of time it takes to get to rank 6 (iirc) to buy a house. Then use the alt to buy the house in the area you want and leave the entrance open to all, now you can visit whenever you want on your main and if you'd really like you can temporarily join your FC shell to trade items and help decorate without actually having to switch characters.

The ease if you have a friend who is willing to work with you joining and leave, bit more painful if you dont and want to stay in your current non-shell FC. Still reading what some people are considering - having to sell your current house (on main), then buy your current house (on alt), then be ready to buy another house in 4.0 and maybe not get one on your main (cause full server lol).. *shiver* ugh man lol.

Most likely the reason you can't share a house with your alt is even though you have the ability to make alts the game is not made around alts. The game is more designed for do everything on one character.

Housing is a small part of the game and is more of alternate options for other ways to get around. Only real good purpose I see in it is the FC bonus. Most people just want to decorate.If that was the case why not go play the sims? Believe me One large estate is enough that I would rather have FC handle decorations. I mainly used for Airships and space. If a personal property had airship access I would jump on it just for that. Will I invest time in getting a new property, ( personal ) maybe just to have it. Would I keep it for other purposes....maybe if they gave it Airship or other type of unique usage I would. Would I grow tire of it and and sell it later on? Maybe or get an alternative for FC and have two simultaneous Airship gathering. Only real reason I would have an alternative.

You're on Balmung so you should know the futility of that question lol, end game for so many players is glamour, and with all the RP is pretty much a better looking Sim lol. Housing has the potential to be another glamour outlet (for those who have, may already be such), which would be much stronger if everyone could take part and allowed for greater customization (the double space capacity in 4.0 will help that obviously). Partly why I believe a WS system would do much better, since its been shown glamour is such a strong interest to the community - the creativity would be much stronger there (for player and SE). It is definitely not just Balmung asking all the glamour questions.

Also houses have the opportunity to be a really great group project for FC, if they were able to add more pertinent structures and facilities to their lots and interiors; however, there is significant issue preventing that now and that is not every FC can get a house which basically means houseless FC would be near trash, and in some people's eyes are already that way (unfortunately). If they didn't have a housing issue it we might more readily see interesting projects revolve around the FC (and differing types rather than "vehicle stuck in a side room, like airship, submarine, walker"), and make it less about glamour for both players and FC (adds another form of possible progression, and can also greatly help the market circulate). The restriction imo is leading to a lot of diminished results, not only people who want it (FC and player) but also in what SE could offer in the system because they have to assume their system doesn't meet demands and doing anything that literally locked others out would be silly (so you have to design around the issue, which limits the creativity and possibilities).

Although I just wanted to make sure you knew what I meant about the FC house thing, I wasn't telling you to get an alternate lol I was saying if I wanted to not lose my current house and assure I could get a new house (or at least not lose one) I wouldn't drop my house to the market and then buy it up again, losing many items, so I could then buy another house in the expansion area (as OP was sort of detailing). Instead I'd keep my current house and then buy a new house on an alt under FC ownership, so long as you have friends to help with some of the goofiness you could use it for all of its features and for your alts/main. Less wasted resources with the stipulation of friends lol.

An interesting result of allowing a player to share a house with ALTs and give them extra rooms would be you could have 8 rooms all with max planting pots. Not really that crazy but is a thing, also depending on what SE adds in the future may cause other issues to be designed around.

No I understand perfectly. I'm one of the few players that really doesn't have problem with housing. I've helped a few people get them and it's all about how you approach it. Personally I will have my alternate take over as master of my FC being it's already build Rank 8 Maxed out to current.Start an new one once the new area is unlocked. I could really care less about the decorations and such mainly in it for the airships. Build it up to Rank 8 and perhaps use at as an expansion to my FC. or sell it later on. Housing is a small matter to me anyways and while people enjoy decorating I rather use it for Farming and extra storage space. NOT every FC is homeless and if they really wanted to they could get a home for the right price or perhaps speak with someone who doesn't really use it and join their FC as a merge/ takeover. For Example; I'm mainly a one man FC I hated to be used and recently opened my doors to people. They are welcome to use the facilities and airships as they wish while they find their own as long as they keep it drama free. I've done the work so they can't say oh you used us for your gain. Not at all. In Some cases They've asked me for help finding a place. I mostly talk and ask people I meet if they would sell it. It works. So it's not futile it's more people are lazy and don't step back and look at the bigger picture. Yes I will not deny there is a housing problem, that is more of over population and people expecting to be rewarded rather than putting in the hard work and searching. Now if people don't trust others that is a different story. When you think about it, What do FC members really look for in housing? A place to hang out? Garden? Build and sell stuff? Diadem? FC bonus actions? or just to say hey I got a big place. Every FC is different, for me..I was bored and tired of being used by FC's that were greedy. Even now my FC is way better than what they currently have.Sad but true. Sucks to pick on the guy with ideas and strategies.
