I hope this is the last time that raids effect the job choices again

Sigh I just dont get the whole 9 dps thing and I commend anyone that plays dps cause I can just simply not deal with 20 min ques just to get in a twenty min dungeon. But Im just frustrated that this whole thing is about raiders complaining about whm and pali not doing well in Alexander. SO what happens on the next raid if drk and warrior suck are we gonna get shafted again? Theres no need for nine dps when half the people are just gona level them in potd anyway.

Yes, every time a class sucks for tanks/healers we get more DPS classes. It is forever going to be the case.

In no other content but Alexander which like ten percent of the game played the difference in pali and whm show. Just sucks that they based a choice off of that to me doesnt make any sense.

I'm just saying, not only is 5.0 not out, 4.0 isn't out. It's too soon to be fear mongering for 5.0. We should develop reasonable understanding of the situation before we fear years into the future for a video game, which we simply don't have the capacity to until we've played our classes at 70.

It has nothing to do with raiders. It's purely based on the fact that they shortsightedly built all your normal heal/tank archetypes and mechanics into pld/war and sch/whm so they worked perfectly in concert together and covered all bases. When it came time to add new jobs in 3.0, they had no idea what to do and it showed. Look at AST. Some bizarre whm/sch hybrid. They designed themselves into a corner and have no idea how to get out of it.

it shows in only Alexander in ur normal df run doesn't matter what tank are what healer u are the only place it matters is when you are tryin to maximize a raid tier so it has plenty to do with raids. There is no other instance in the game where it really makes a difference what tank or healer you are.

You completely missed my point. They have no idea what to do. There's no gimmicks left. If they want to make a new class, it has to BE NEW. They covered all bases in 2.0. There's no new tank or healer because they're out of ideas, not because they're afraid of balancing.

And you're some kind of special if you think class balance shouldn't be a consideration when it comes to creating a new job. You've obviously never played an mmo before. Balance effects a lot more than just raids.

thats actually incorrect Ive played several other mmos, Im just saying that 9 dps is a bit of over kill , and that the differences in astro and whm , or drk and pali are so small in anything outside of Alexander.

I dont really understand how that is so hard to understand while I plan to raid and Ive done some of the challenging content in the game but the majority of players that play this game do not so I would never want them to base a new job off of something that a small percentage of players complain about. You do not see this wide gap in balance in shom al hard, you dont see it on any primals its only one place and its only one group of people that where vocal about it and it wasnt casuals. Of course balance matters but you cant honestly say , that the gap is so wide in anything outside of raids to where we couldnt of had another healer or tank.

They have to base it off end game raids because that's where jobs get pushed to their limits, they can't base it off say a dungeon because any job will look amazing in those.

but it could also depend on the raid as well , what type of raid it is whether it does more magic damage or more physical damage, I jut think its bs that now no new tank or healer for a year to two years and we got nine dps. It has nothing to do with balance it has everything to do with most people just dont wana get treated certain type of ways for playing these roles
