Need some tips on match opening for a warrior

There are some possible scenarios which happen when match starts but I stuggle to choose the correct route in each situation.
Should I choose to focus on one dps (usually melee) with other dps, leaving a healer freecasting? In high tier matches all bursts are easily healed and team can't do much next 2 minutes.
Or should I start with applying Storm's Path to both enemy dps and a tank, especially another warrior to help our healer?
Or should I occupy enemy healer, interfering in his healing? When I approach and pop Berserk I usually getting Fluid Aura or Blizzard II or Sleep, if I purify these I still chasing for a few seconds and then get pacification, wasting my burst. Should I save Full Swing, Berserk and double Fell Cleave for a time when healer runs out of CDs and Attunement?
Or should I try to stop bard's Barrage which is usually not successful because WAR can't stunlock for its whole duration like a paladin.
What to do with black mages, I can stun only 2 Fire IVs because limited CC options and then it's freecasting, especially with def buff.
And should I use Fell Cleaves when they are up or keep them ready till I see anyone with low HP?
Too many choices, and impossible to do them all at once.

What I do on warrior vastly changes based on the enemy healer.

Bad healer? Bully them all day, these are the healers who die to your burst if you get a crit.

Good healer? Work with your team, path a DPS if they pop buffs. Watch for your ranged DPS or melee DPS to pop buffs. Burst with them. It's pretty hard to heal if a fell cleave lines up.

Far too often do I see warriors chase good healers around all match doing nothing, don't be that warrior.

Stun, holmgang, knockback, thrill are all tools to stop enemy burst. Combine a low and high CD ability to try to help as much as possible. A warrior will never be as good as a pld, or even drk, for stopping burst.


Fell cleave. This is the priority system I use:
1) Your melee pops fetter and probably has adrenaline, use when they lb. If you know when to use it, the only things that can save them are an Adlo or a noct AST shield.
2) Save one if a box is coming up, fell cleave is great for winning objectives.
3) Your own burst.
4) Your team is bursting and you don't have burst, you can interrupt a healer and help secure the kill, or you can push 2k more damage out to help the kill.
5) Use on healer if nothing is going on, you can interrupt a cast if you do it as another one ends.

Also purify is better saved for your healer than used on yourself. Eat the binds, push back is great against fluid aura too.

A general tank tip, I don't really like using full swing on healer if they have purify up. Healers are generally the most aware of good purify usage. Usually you can catch a b4b popping melee or ranged and totally obliterate them though. Even if they don't pop b4b, they will probably wear around full swing for 20s.

I don't play WAR anymore, but I'll try it again I think.
One of my problem in PvP is not knowing what to dowhen I don't see an opportunity to land a kill or stop a burst.

I'd imagine it comes with experience when to burst or fall back.
I'm still learning that as a dps when go in for the burst kill. Never tanked pvp so take what you will from me xP

Normally I heal(SCH) in pvp and can say aside from getting the kill you will want us to panic. A panicking healer is a worthless healer since they will typically start face rolling their cds to save themselves or their team. Of course this isn't always true but with all the fresh faces to pvp thanks to GARO it is more common than not.
If you cant get them to panic then follow what Tiramisu stated with getting coordinated with your dps to overwhelm them.

Also, know when to disengage to harass/kill others. Yes, healers can be an important target but if I'm not blowing enough of my cds and your dps arent coming in to profit from your hard work then you can be a simple fly to me than an actual threat.

Mark Targets!

I see very few tanks marking targets. Now that chat is disabled inside the feast grounds, marking targets is a huge advantage for your team. Give those pve rotation dps something to focus all their pent up rage of failed savage clears on.

Swap Targets!

Swap marks and targets accordingly. Accordingly means a number of things. When it's time to burst something new, change the mark. The more you play the more experienced you will get at this, you'll learn when to remark and swap. Also, a well timed fell cleave on a swapped target WILL be a factor in determining if a healer can save that player or not.

Learn the names.

There is a lot of fodder playing, currently. However there some jewels that will require focus and coordination in order to take down. Try to learn who is who, this will help you with marking targets and deciding who you should harass.

Watch the buffs.

Burn the heck out of a dragoon with Blood for blood on, for example. Don't waste a cleave on a attuned healer. Know who grabbed the defensive buff and offensive buff. Take note of what debuffs have been put on you, your team and the opposite team. Marking targets normally dictates who is gonna have the most debuffs on them assuming your dps knows what a mark is.

Time everything!

Time your stuns, your burst, your defensive cd's and your party cd's. All though Warrior is not as good at protecting players as a Paladin is, you can still save your team with a well timed thrill of war, mithril tempest, holmgang/stun lock, and tank lb. The same could be said for using those cd's for offensive purposes too.

Play the LoS.

Line of sight is your best and worst friend. if a healer LoS'd themselves try to keep them cc'd behind a wall for as long as possible, ever more so if you see another opponent getting low. You can do this for a lone dps as well. That one dps that over commits and lost LoS from their healer can be quickly cc'd and burned before the healer can make it to them.

Those are the basic fundamentals everybody tends to ignore and instead tries to do max dps all the time on the first thing they can target. If you want to be competitive you have to take advantage of everything, not just learn a rotation. Feast is a team effort and IMO the tank should be the one who dictates how the match goes.

Getting kill as a warrior in feast always put a smile on my face. Getting any kill to me is a bonus and any additional kill is even better. Regardless of what you end up planning your strategy in any match against all variations of team comp, you still should aim to land kills whether its team kills or personal.

I love, love, LOVE playing Warrior in the feast. I use it exclusively for PVPing. I try to work in double fell cleaves when I can. You can even do triple but it's a bit of a pain to pull off.

Just to add a bit on openings.

Generally, unless you know that the other teams healer is really good, it is wise to open on heals (if healer did not take def buff). Pre-pop infuriate so that the CD is back up when you actually engage, and through everything you have at them (zerk, double fell, full swing, your CC). A good healer will counter you, but you will likely have drawn usage of key CDs out of them, and maybe eaten enough of their gcds to let your dps get a kill. After opening, pretty much just fall into the priory systems of Tiramisu and Cheese.

If you know that healer, and know that you will likely get counter, make sure opening target (whoever it may be) is marked, and burst when your melee is on it. WAR burst damage is its greatest strength, Melee's burst + WAR burst generally can not be healed through. Generally as a WAR I think we need to aim for first kill, after that, and our burst down, we can use its lessor support kit.
