Question bout retainer gear

Is it worth gearing up the retainer?, what I mean is:
I have a dark knight retainer and it is ilvl 252 now, should I increase its ilvl even further?

I asked the same question before and the general consensus was NO NEED it makes no difference.

not sure why you would go with a non gathering retainer, but unless its for a lawn ornament no real need.

odd to not level gatherer retainers to get dyes/minions and materials to make a good chunk of change without needing to be logged in.

All retainers can get dyes, since those are from quick ventures. 252 is more than enough ilvl to get you what you need. DoW/M retainers are good for collecting mats that gathering retainers can't, and that in and of itself can be a lucrative take if you know what sells well on your server.

The only reason to increase its ilvl at this point is to future proof it for the expansion. Just like your gear, the higher the ilvl, the longer your retainer will be able to go before it needs new gear.

A good reason to have a combat class retainer is because they are the only ones who can get monster parts like leather, wool, blood, etc. I started with a combat retainer and botanist. Later on I decided to splurge for a 3rd retainer to make a miner. The combat retainer is more valuable by far because it can guarantee get those mob drops rather than my having to commit genocide to an entire zone only for the rng to screw me over with maybe 1 or 2 drops. I recommend anyone with 2 retainers to make one of them a combat class for precisely this reason.
