Weapon restrictions with regard to certain classes/jobs.

I was wondering if there will ever be a time in the game where certain classes and jobs are proficient with more than one weapon. Two classes that specifically come to mind when thinking of this are Warriors and Gladiators. It would seem to me that both should be able to use a myriad of weapons as a defining characteristic. A gladiator being able to use multiple weapons and dual wielding would add much needed depth to the class and allow them to have an offensive role like MRD if they wanted to. Furthermore, Warriors in all games have been weapon masters and their ability to use a variety of weapons was always common. Certain WS could still be class specific and you could create a trait learned at 50 for a "Weapon Master" skill or something, but allowing certain classes to use multiple weapons would really add some added flavor, diversity, and fun to the game.

Unlikely, unless they remove the armory system completely.

Yoshi-p has said several time they are considering Two handed sword for GLA at some point although possibly removing dagger.

As others have said in different threads though there is a good chance we will see the addition of multiple jobs per class so a two handed/ greatsword job could work quite well for GLA.

Not necessarily. There are still class specific skills that will not change. A Gld with an axe using Gld exclusive skills would be a Gld with an axe not a Mrd. In addition they have certain offensive abilities as well. As with this patch, next patch MRD will still be able to go offensive and defensive if they like, while Gld can only play defensively, for example.

Yup but MRD has always been this teams golden class.

Personally I think its crappy that they are still allowing them to excell in both area's but hey ho its SE.

What I would have prefered is that they restricted WAR to a DD role for now and then when adding a second job allowed them to tank and did the reverse for GLA.

I would like to see Ambidextrous be a trait for Theif when it gets implemented. Give daggers to them and allow them to dual-wield. Then have Ninja as a job that uses katanas instead of daggers.
I would also like to see Theif get a Martial Artist job that uses nunchuks :D

i can't ever see multiple weapon type for classes, class is defined (in this game) by its weapon, what we call each class in english is not the same as what the japanese call them, but we can all tell straight way what class we are talking of, by the icon of the weapon, i'm not saying that is reason enough to keep it that way. i am just pointing out how weapon type and class identity is tied to the armoury system

i can see dual wield going to a thief or ninja. great sword is a bit harder, now GLD is the only class to hold a shield suggest that the shield will be a big part of that class, so no room for a 2 handed sword while carrying a shield, maybe 2nd job for GLD will get it. or maybe MRD's job/jobs no saying warrior won't get 2 handed sword/axe

Maybe after we got Musketeer, we will have Ranger or something which can use both bows and guns?

i think the whole armoury system is a mistake, i would love to be able to change weapon type for classes (although it does pose a question. what would pugilist or lancer or archer gain access too?) but anyway the armoury system is one of the foundations to the game, and i bet it will be harder to change that, than it would be to change the server while we play :P
