Jobs and Classes: Ratios.
I was wondering about jobs and classes. The changes to classes got me thinking. We're going to see more jobs right? Of, course. . . (>.>) lol j/k. Seriously though, Right now we have 1:1 class:job. It's fairly obvious down the line we'll see 1:2 right? Well what about 2:1? I know its been discussed that multiple classes will be a requirement for some future jobs. (I think) So anyone wonder how this works, I mean the classes right now seem to be gearing towards their respective jobs. Let me explain...
Here we have 1:1
Archer -> Bard
Gladiator -> Paladin
This is what we'll see at launch of jobs, very simple.
-------------------------
Here we have 1:2
Archer -> Bard
Archer -> ??? (use your imagination)
Okay so now another job has been added to the mix, it still stays very simple, still use the same classes, (x is still a function of y) job abilities can still be implemented without having to worry about your class.
------------------------------------------
And here we have 2(+):1
Archer + Musketeer -> RNG?
Gladiator + Conjurer + Thaumaturge -> RDM?
Okay this is where things get alittle strange. If 2 or more jobs are required does that mean we play our job with the options of those classes? Is a system like this going to exist in game? I question this. Will we see things like a RDM freely switching between sword and staff or a RNG freely using bows and guns? (X is not a function of Y here.) I question weather the class system is setting up well if it takes this kind of route, if not then well I guess we will be bound to 1:1(+). And what of the jobs being introduced now, they may only use one class?
In the end I guess it just changes up your weaponry and major spells. There seems like there can be a large variety in play style, and that actually kinda excites me.
