I'm disappointed, why are we being punished for the cash shop?

Ever since they added seasonal events players who participated were able to buy several extra furnishings, store them in the FC chest and save them on an alt character, and the following big update after the event the item would be able to be sold in the market.

Before the seasonal event "Make it Rain", in a live letter people asked Yoshida for a way to obtain old seasonal furnishings, Yoshida said they would look into it.

Then starting the seasonal event Make it Rain, all newer seasonal furniture came with a new restriction: we cannot store our furniture in the FC chest to be stored on alts, the market restriction on seasonal furniture was never lifted.

This seemly odd restriction made sense a few months later, Square Enix started to reintroduce furnishings in the cash shop, so in order to prevent us from storing items we earned and in order to prevent other players to use gil to buy these items, they set these restrictions, likely so the only way to obtain them the next year will be the cash shop.

I'm very disappointed, at the very least they should have allowed us to store seasonal furnishing in the FC chest, why can't we stockpile on items we have earned? Why do we have to pay real money if we want another seasonal item that we already earned?

Seasonal event items generally have their market board restriction lifted after a few months/the next year. Not so sure about the FC chest thing, but it's certainly marketable after some time.

It has been 6 months since the Make it Rain items were released and they didn't lose the market restriction, in previous events the market restriction was lifted in the following patch after the event ended, not years, not many months, the following game update, we're well past that point so obviously this restriction is intentional, as it started happening at the same time as they removed the ability to store seasonals in the FC chest.

I was fairly sure I put seasonal stuff into the FC chest all the time, so I actually went to check and there is no such restriction, I could without trouble add and remove all kinds of old and new seasonal items.

I'm talking about newer seasonal items starting Make it Rain, not old seasonal items.

Try to store a Senior Sabotender Trophy, Firefly Lamp, Pumpkin Stew, Rising Pillar, Rising Banner, or any of the 3 furniture added in this Starlight.

I'll agree, the restrictions are really annoying. If they made it so once its set to "binding" you it can be stored the FC chest, it could make the system a lot better.

Maybe there's a reason they have it as untradable for now, maybe they are planning to make it sellable in the future and it was a way to prevent people from stockpiling them to sell for later... but who knows.

Makes sense: imagine if it's on the Mogstation and it's tradeable... get ready to trigger the forums because RMT is official.

So you're complaining because you can't sell a tree on the MB on for 12 million gil anymore, and now all players have a shot at items from events they may have missed? A true travesty.

Mog station items have their own item ID that makes them untreadeable without affecting furniture earned from events, so this change wasn't made to prevent RMT, they want to encourage people to buy from the cash shop instead of storing items they earned.

I'm complaining because I can't store the items I have earned, I don't mind that new players can buy furniture from the cash shop, but those of us who were here shouldn't be punished by removing our ability to store items on alts through the FC chest. Please don't be cynical, this thread isn't about adding items to the cash shop, it's about the restrictions imposed on newer items.

Calling running around for 30 seconds talking to NPCs "earned" is a bit of a stretch, but regardless, just do what everyone else does and store it on a retainer. FC chests weren't designed to be used as personal hoards in the first place,.
