Nah, that's just flavor text saying that it might take upwards of a million years.
Most Eorzeans have trouble counting past 12 I'd imagine. Nobody seems educated other than the basics to get by in life.
Knowing what a million is would be equal to knowing what a googolplex is. "Thousand thousand" is likely their way of articulating a million, even for people of science.
Googol : 10^100
Googolplex : 10^Googol.
Sad thing is, you start to get into array-based notation after that, but there is effectively zero practical use for any of those numbers, starting with the Googol. You literally do not have enough time in your lifetime, starting the moment you are born, to count from 1 to a Googol, let alone to a Googolplex.
Back somewhat on topic, I got my Encyclopedia Eorzea today. And, within its pages, I found another instance of that "thousand thousand" ... its deliberate, not a typo or a bug.
Thousand Thousand is another way of saying one million. It's not a text error.
