Lapides Lazuli
If you try to discard multiple raw lapis lazuli from your inventory by dragging them out of the inventory window, then you'll get a confirmation dialogue asking you if you're sure you want to discard 2 raw "lapides lazulis". Shouldn't it be "lapis lazulis"? Not sure what the plural form of that is though.
-
The best way to word it would likely be "chunks of lapis lazuli", though lapides lazuli isn't all that wrong, despite how awkward it seems. Lapis lazuli basically means "stone of lazuli", so using the plural form of lapis does work.
-
Nope, lapis is Latin for stone & the plural is lapides. There is no error.
-
I didn't know that, and that's interesting, but then shouldn't "Lazulis" remain Lazuli?
-
No, as Lazuli is pluralised with the 's' to become Lazulis. Think of it as two words like this: a cactus root would become cacti roots, different ways to treat the plural. The joys of language! XD
