It's about time SE did something about people who are dreadfully under geared for ranked feast or are just flat out ignorant and clueless. Not only they are a detriment to the whole team with their antics they are also dreadfully unaware of themselves AND not noticing party chat by not noticing they are missing 1k health from wearing that cute black rose they forgot to unequip.
It is rather sickening that the same logic applied to PVE ILVL requirements is applied to PVP especially when the gear is sync'ed down and not up, while they met the 150 ilvl requirement outside of the Arena, they ultimately end up BELOW that same 150 ilvl requirement while in game. Seems rather worthless to have ilvl requirements at that point doesn't it, it might as well be removed.
It makes ZERO sense. SE please make it so that in order to enter at least ranked PVP that people need to wear 150+ ilvl gear in EVERY SLOT before entering a game. Ranked pvp should at least reflect that skill, not gear, is what ultimately prevails in a game and allowing people to enter a game undergeared is just a slap in the face to players that end up with those people.

I agree.
To put it into perspective, imagine if you were obliged to solo queue into raid finder for savage content with complete randoms and without minimum ilvl gear. That would never fly with the community.
Not only that, ranked modes are just that: ranked. They should be treated with more seriousness than casual modes. -

If anything, it teaches players more bad habits than good ones, so locking players into 8v8 would only limit the amount of real practice new players would get.
Instead, I'd rather see them implement a probationary period for new players. They could still queue into ranked matches, but the matches they participate in would have no negative repercussions for their teammates until they clear their probation (lets say 20 victories, just to stick with your example). If it were handled like this, then a silver, gold, or platinum player who gets shafted onto a team with a total rookie wouldn't have to fear losing points on account of getting the short end of the queue stick. If the match is a win (unlikely), then things would be handled as normal, but if the match is a loss (almost certainly will be), then the higher ranked player loses nothing. A system like that would be far more favourable, because top ranked players would no longer have to limit their own queues just to hold on to their rank. Placing top ranked players with low ranked players would be more of a teaching/learning experience, rather than a total shit show resulting in frayed nerves and spite. It wouldn't completely do away with the venom, I'm sure, but it would be a much healthier environment for all players, both new and old. -

I absolutely agree though. Often I see PvP friends complaining about people who come into Feast ranked with pre-60 gear. This happens in Frontlines too and it's so annoying. Ranked or no, this kind of stuff shouldn't be acceptable and just blown over. -

Two problems contributing to this (there's lots of other issues, but these factors aren't helping):
- 3.4 introduced Squadrons, a fluffy PvE Facebook game, with a subset of some of the appealing Recruits tied to PvP Challenge Log entries (and only PvP entries). This leads to apathetic players spamming the queue for Wolves' Den Challenge Log just to roll for a chance at a desired Recruit for the week.
- There is no practical unranked Wolves' Den for just fluffing around. 8v8 is a bizarre gimmick that's not very useful for training and has queue times ranging upwards of 3 hours if you play at off times (in my experience on Aether, anyway), 3.4's Custom Matches are logistically awkward and cumbersome (especially if you're on a small server or at off-hours), and 4v4 Fold (level 50) requires two premade teams to make queues ever pop (and then gets into uncomfortable match-fixing territory), and even if they do pop, you're limited to level 50 abilities and that's awful.

Well, the solution to the gear issue is simple:
In ranked PvP, gear is nullified and stats forced to a set value. Thus, the influence of gear is eliminated, leaving only skill, lag, job differences, chance and synergy effects as determinants for the match outcome.
Can't help snickering at the notion every time. Slapping the "Ranked" tag on the mode is going to make people treat it like a serious competition as much as slapping the "Expert" tag onto a roulette is going to make people treat it like content that requires profound knowledge and high expertise. That is, not at all, because it's neither serious nor expert content. It's solo queue, the same mode duty finder is infamous for. Pugs. The tool that exists to trade quality for quantity to cater to casual demands of faster queues. It's a casual mode by nature. Big surprise, people are treating it as such! What an outrage. I wonder if people will ever lose their delusions about this...Quote:
