Frosted Glass Lens

Could we please have an alternative way of acquiring this item? It's used in dozens of recipes but it's source is extremely limited and locked into old content few people are able to do.

What old content is there that only a few can do?
The older something is, the more people that can do it

I think the issue is more making a choice between a dragonskin map or one of the ARR maps. Anyone can do the old maps, but since aquapolis is locked to the dragonskin maps there are few people willing to give that up for a small chance at getting a frosted glass lens. I'd like to see some alternatives too. Maybe add it into the new PotD goodie bags loot table or a rare randomly appearing item on timed nodes?

Or make them (more?) available through Quick Ventures.

Doesn't that come from old maps that can easily be solo'd?

It isn't that the content is difficult for players to do, it is as Dustytome stated that you can only choose to collect one treasure map a day. So if you decide to go for the extremely low chance of a lens drop from a piestskin you lose out on a chance to do aquapolis and vice versa. The item itself doesn't feel like it should be that increasingly rare if its in several common recipes and also prevent players from doing new content with their friends. Currently on my server these are extremely hard to come by because no one wants to do piestskin maps when they can do aquapolis instead.

Yes, very easily *but* you can only get the one map per 18hrs (unless you buy them via the market board). That means forfeiture of a Dragonskin Map & Aquapolis for the chance to get a Frosted Lens. It's a very difficult decision if you are trying to get (arguably) more relevant & important items via Aquapolis, like Tier V Materia.

Just buy the peisteskin ones from the MB, or ask a friend/FC mate/whatever who don't have their gatherers on 56 yet to get them for you then

I don't get that phrase, why wouldn't I eat a cake that's mine? We're just looking for alternative methods to acquire an item that's in a good deal of the lighting recipes and was too rare before being made obsolete. They've already added minions and such from the old maps to both potd and aquapolis, why not a material that could use a boost in availability on the market boards?

Key part in understanding the phrase is "at the same time." It's impossible. You can't own your cake after you've eaten it. Mainly used for something that is an unreasonable request.

That said, I do think that in this scenario, SE should make it possible. They should probably at least split ARR maps and HW maps.
