Suggestion: Create market board listings to purchase an item - to help fix economy

Allow buyers to place "buying" requests for a specific amount and price through their retainers, and sellers to fulfill those requests. (Additional improvement: allow partial fulfillments for both buying and selling?)

The available information on the market board is asymmetric and provides perfect information on supply while leaving demand virtually unknown. That means that the price of goods is highly reactive only to supply.

This creates uncertainty in the market and discourages both buyers and sellers. If equivalent information were provided on demand, the supply and demand for items would tend to meet in the middle and the price of items would reflect demand as well as supply.

The Games economy is glamor based witch is why there isn't one.

Someone had suggested this idea 2years ago, but he could not tell how to manage the payment.
one example was, the buyer should have prepaid, and what happen if multiple crafters making the requested item and buyer needs to cancel the request..etc? ^^;

The important detail is that you deposit the payment when you make the request. If the buyer cancels the request then they get their money back. The details are not that important. For example, there could be a restriction for a minimum listing time. Perhaps there's a penalty for canceling the request early.

If two crafters make the requested item then one of them will end up listing their item for sale just like they do today. At first this may seem like a problem created by allowing purchase requests, but it is actually not. Before this system is implemented, both of them are just making complete guesses about what to craft and hoping somebody will buy it for the price they set. The only difference is that with a system in place to buy items, they would know what somebody was willing to pay.

It's not really a guess as to what to craft though. The mb has a wish list that puts a heart next to an in demand item, and the sale history tells you how frequently the item sells in general with the prices it sold for.

Not to say this is a bad idea, because it could be very useful if implemented properly

Then there will be many crafters compliain, after collecting the mats and crafting the requested item, the request was "early pulled" by someone...^^;

Another situation is, if you request something rare with lower price than what I am listing,
I can buy all the mat. off and make you even harder to get this item.
It is not hard to be done in a small server.

Then when someone set the request price wrongly, like giving all his gils, can he contact support desk and seek for assistance?

How does it fix the economy and what is the problem needs to be fixed?
This function only enforce bottom price to item, also allowing rich ppl or RMT purchase all item wihtout camping the MB. The casual players willl never be able to buy a really hot item. Bcoz everyone will counter offer everyone for really hit item.

The casual player is free to buy a for sale item for the listed price which may be slightly more than the market price.

I think the implementation of a "buy board" where people can list what they want to buy, how many, and for how much would be better. It is exactly like the market board now, but in reverse.

I think we just need a better item search & sales history function. Something the sellers can review to easily determine current demand. The function as it exists now leaves much to be desired.
