Why do some dungeon gear look alike?

I've noticed this for awhile, but why do certain job classes dungeon gear look like a recolored version of another's? Is it because FFXIV's development team can't afford to make unique gear for each new class, is it a lore thing, or... Yeah, I would just like to know the answer over why this is, otherwise it's just gonna continue to bother me... XD

Probably because dungeon gear is replaced about 12 minutes after getting it by currency gear. No point making so many new gear sets available for every new dungeon when it's just going to be replaced. You could argue that it'd be more glamour options, but they add a shit ton of those all the time anyways without the dungeons being involved.

I know there people who spam Dungeon up to 40 - 50 times just to get the right gear they want for Glamoured. Glamoured is the true end game here. It doesn't hurt to have unique and nice looking gears in Dungeon. I do agree with Soge that lately all the Dungeon gears look the same and look like they are recolor or just similar look. It is quite disappointing tbh. If they make better looking gear in Dungeon, it make the dungeon more lively and have longer life span, not to mention faster que time.

Dungeon gear that get replaced fast by currency gear is a bad excused not to make Dungeon gear look better and more unique looking. Even the Raid gears in 24 man have been dissapointing and following the same design gear look as previous patch. It look like the developer either got lazy or can't come out with new concept.

I agree with you, Tisharu. And now that I think about, to point out to others. Currency gear is supposed to be special/exclusive high level gear that is supposed to be really hard to get and worth the loooooong grinding for.

Even if dungeon gear gets replaced, it's not replaced right away for many, many players because the same thing can be said about currency gear. For example, I had JUST gotten the full i200 currency gear for my machinist, only for the patch to come out and the new dungeon gear completely replacing it unless I upgrade all of it. Sure, I can try to get the new primal gear out right now to replace my i200 gear, but by the time I even collect one set of the primal gear (thanks to the weekly limit >.>) a new patch will most likely be out with equal or greater level dungeon gear.

I'm not saying it's pointless to collect the primal gear, as I WILL have at least one complete set one day, but that like Tisharu said. It would not be bad at all to have unique looking gear for each dungeon, just because people grind for the currency gear. I personally would like the new gear for Sohr Khai and plan on getting four sets for my job classes not only for the gear level upgrade, but because they look so dam unique and beautiful compared to the silly copy paste gear we've been getting since the start of Heavensward. >.>

The real question is "Why did they make the Shikaree set available to all jobs? It was one of the best bard exclusives and they had to give it to everyone."

It's kinda unfair that Dragoon is the only job to get unique gears most of the time.

They also don't have to battling any other job for the Maiming accessories.


- Tank gears - 3 jobs fighting for the same thing

- BRD/MCH - 2 jobs fighting for the same thing

- MNK/NIN - color swapped

- Healer/Caster - color swapped, 2 jobs fighting for the same thing (3 jobs for healers)

- DRG - yeah! I kept dying and fell off cliff but I'll get the unique gears with no one that can Need it beside other dragoons!

If it helps at all whatever new DPS class comes next will most likely use Maiming. Then you can complain about how bad that DPS class is too that still gets gear :p

First of all, maiming accessories haven't been a thing since the first Binding Coil of Bahamut. Unless you mean slaying accessories, which are used by Monks.

Second, the majority of the Dragoon armor sets introduced in HW share the model with the tank set (Dusk Vigil, The Aery, The Vault, Aboretum/Pharos HM, Antitower/Lost City HM, Sohr Khai/Hullbreaker HM, Weeping City of Mhach)
I'd be inclined to add Void Ark to that list as well, since the Dragoon VA set is almost like the tank set, minus the skirt.
Gordias and Midas sets are shared between Dragoons and Monks.

That leaves the law set, the lore set, and the Neverreap/Fractal set (leaving out Eso, since that's unique for all classes), hardly something I'd consider "most of the time"
