As a veteran player who firmly believes glamours are the true endgame, the glamour system seems to be very outdated when you consider the sheer amount of different gear sets there are.
If you take alt classes and crafting into consideration, you can easily fill two retainers with just glamour items. I don't know how often this suggestion is made, or if it is even taken into account, but I'd think having some form of glamour bank to save those for later use.
In short, just like recycling, I'd suggest the ability to destroy equipment in order to save it's appearance and keep it in an interface that lets you tab and organize everything. It would still mean the use of prisms. With crafting/gathering/alt classes, there is still quite enough actual equipment to use.
Hell, you could even make achievements related to that, and it would give all the more reason for players to revisit old content in order to fill out their collections. Win-win-win?

Collection gathering (especially of something so many players like, such as glamour) is a great way to get players to stick around.
It's a bit more of a letdown if every time you get a cool new glamour outfit you're stuck with figuring out which to get rid of because you're always out of space for them. With the current system, we can't so much collect glamour as just alternate it occasionally, which isn't nearly as gratifying.
And yes, the suggestion has been made quite often, but it's definitely worth continuing to make it until SE finally gives us the feature. -

Making it a common thread until there is an official response then. Many MMOs with much less skin choices do have similar systems. SE has made a ton of great improvement in their UI and gameplay since Heavensward came out, and unless they would come out themselves and say otherwise, I am fairly certain this is nothing out of their reach. It's nice to know I'm far from being the only one with this grievance. If there was a single thing I could ask from SE, it would be this. I would go as far as to say this is what is gating me out of crafting currently, funnily enough.

Would love to have an updated glamour system as I stated before it feels very passé! I realize they have indeed slowly improved many things and am thankful they have :) but further tweaking and additions would only make the game more up to date and fluid. -

They just need to make a special retainer that requires either a one-time in-game purchase of like 20 million gil or a Mog station fee of ~$5 a month to hire that has infinite slots The catch would be that you can only put in glamour item pieces (no duplicates). While the item is in this "bank" you can freely select it as an appearance from the glamour menu (it wouldn't show up as default, you would have to change the listing) without it actually being in your inventory. This way it benefits both SE and appeases those people who are bat crazy about hoarding every item appearance in the game without it breaking item storage for everyone.

If it was retainer I highly doubt it could be accesses straght from glamor menu. After all we can't access material from retainers for crafting either. It also should have requirement for the items put in to be soulbound. Otherwise infinite spots would be just misused, even if it only accepted o ly single of any item.
I think a glamour log should be the way to go. It could even have a requirement to have all the 5 pieces of a set to be recorded, which effectively means they'd only need to save one ID instead of five. Then if you have one set recorded, you can glamour to each of its items separately as if you had them as separate items. It would also emphasise the collection aspect. -

I have no problem with being required to "log" an entire set. Should they choose to go this route, however, I do hope they also add a "search by set" option along with it. A "sort by set" inventory feature would also be a welcome addition.

The game has the ability to search your Retainer's inventories for items even if you're in different zones or an instance, so it wouldn't be a stretch that the glamour window should be able to obtain information from a retainer. A glamour log on the other hand would require them to list every glamour-able item in the game and would require them to make a whole new UI for it. It would also require them to completely scrap the current glamour system instead of building on their existing programming.Quote:

I'm not against your idea of glamour retainer, I just presented my idea as another option. As for the glamour log needing to list every glamorable item in the game, I don't think it'd have to. I'd envision it to only showing the ones I have. Our minion log doesn't list all the missing minions either. As for making the current glamouring system any different, I don't think that'd need to change either. Just that when you open the current glamouring window, on the right side where it shows the glamour items in your inventory tories, it would also list the items you would have due your glamour log. Maybe in cursive font to tell they are sort of virtual items. Only new required graphical interface would be the glamour log itself which could very well loan from minion/mount log, having certain setpiece icon, maybe a hat, to denote the glamour set recorded. They would need new ID type for glamour set though.

All it would need to record is a single bit indicating whether you do or do not have the item for each one. No, a glamour log would still be using the existing glamour system, and probably the existing UI for it. The logged items would simply be more pages in the appearance side of the UI window.
