I actually remember that being said too and didnt matter to me much, but good point, cause now im curious, wtheck happend to this
I vaguely remember something about us being able to hire some kind of merc companion from the grand companies for such instead, I would assume when they add more GC ranks and such is when they'll add that. :o
Chocobos are in a weird place in the game's system. They are pets, but they count as players in the party list. I'm guessing they haven't found a way to not break this while transitioning them to pets (or something similar) that can be summoned inside the dungeon. Then again, that could just be bunk and they don't see it as a relevant priority. Who knows? It was mentioned in a recent live letter and was mostly made fun of for being brought up too much.
The chocobo out while in queue was an issue since 2.0 and had received several dev responses. Originally it was planned for 2.1 then it was pushed back due to "complexity issues". Later, like way later, it was commented on again that it was being looked into with no ETA. several months after that it was scrapped due to server limitations.
You know... I don't particularly care about Chocobo Companions anymore... Call me when SE does the sensible thing and gives us a damned Gambit System for them, then maybe having a Chocobo out will actually be beneficial to me and I'll care whether I can or can't queue with the dumb chicken... Companions need a complete overhaul IMO, hope this gargantuan wait isn't solely to queue with them... Having an update that lets us queue with them, gives them more customization options/levels, makes them more effective and maybe throws in something like XIs Trusts system (Class quest NPCs could use some love)... That'd be amazing... If all this time has passed just to let us queue with them... Well, good for people who find them useful I guess... I find mine to be dumber than a sack of bricks...
