I actually remember that being said too and didnt matter to me much, but good point, cause now im curious, wtheck happend to this

I vaguely remember something about us being able to hire some kind of merc companion from the grand companies for such instead, I would assume when they add more GC ranks and such is when they'll add that.![]()

I'm pretty sure they said that this wouldn't be available before 4.0. Unfortunate too, since I'm really looking forward to that.

That feature was mentioned in one of the previous live letters:

A: There were some setbacks in the planning stage, but we're expecting to have this ready for Patch 3.4 as of the current schedule. However, I cannot make any promises as to whether they will be able to enter dungeons alongside you at the time they are added to the game. We're also planning to unlock the first lieutenant rank for Grand Companies at the same time. These ranks will not be ready for Patch 3.3, although there will be new Grand Company equipment.
You guys got me thinking about Eve Online's problems with old code and no one avalible knowing how it all worked
Legacy Code
I to wish they would at least let us queue up, ride choco porters, and join people's parties with our companions already out. The Trust system in 11 was really good for when it came out but I think that it would really hamper group play right now. The server pops are still high enough that you can see and group up with real people while leveling. It would probably work fine if limited to 1 NPC per player in a party, since that is how companions work currently.

Chocobos are in a weird place in the game's system. They are pets, but they count as players in the party list. I'm guessing they haven't found a way to not break this while transitioning them to pets (or something similar) that can be summoned inside the dungeon. Then again, that could just be bunk and they don't see it as a relevant priority. Who knows? It was mentioned in a recent live letter and was mostly made fun of for being brought up too much.

I think op is not talking about that but about being able to have your chocobo up on open field while you're waiting on queue.Chocobos are in a weird place in the game's system.
