Walking Through Stone/Ice

I'm relatively new; playing on a PC w/a 4K monitor. One thing I've noticed is that in certain areas I can will be walking on rocks and literally sink into them.

A perfect example is the "When a Man Loves a Woman" quest in Coerthas. I was climbing the mountain and would jump on ice, only to fall directly through or literally walk into it as if there is no collision detection at all, or the detection rather is "inside" the ice. So I can just walk "in the rock" rather than on the rock.I should have taken some screenshots... but basically, it makes the quest confusing and glitchy. Is this just part of the game engine or intentional for the quest?

I suppose I'd have to check the exact example to really answer. In general, though, the map itself should have proper collision. Objects on the map, whether they be monsters, other players, or rocks, do not have collision. So if the rock or ice or whatever you're talking about is specifically part of the quest, then I would expect to be able to run through it on account of the way the engine is currently engineered. If it's a permanent part of the map, then I would expect it to have proper collision so I collide with its side and top.

Thanks. I think in this case it is most likely a bug as the terrain in question persists before and after the quest. I'll head back there, take some screenshots and post them in the bug forum.

Okay, I went back to the area and took some screenshots to show what I mean. I've also seen this happen in other places (outside of Ul'dah for example):

Those screenshots are two different areas around the same general location. I mean given, the situation is augmented by being a 3 foot lalafell but still; I don't know if this is just the way the graphics engine works or a bug or what but I keep running into it. And its not like a quest object that is intentionally "walk through" like a temporary wagon or something.

Anyway, if anyone knows let me know. I'm just going to post it in the bug forums. Thanks.

Ah, that spot. Your map shows you that there's a dungeon there. Do you have access to it yet? Perhaps some of the ice must be cleared by some future means to gain access to it. =)

You know, that didn't even dawn on me... based on some recent quest text... that may be it! :-)
