DirectX crash in both 9.0 and 11

So, looking at the technical support threads I can tell that this is an issue that several people have been getting. Within minutes of playing XIV, DirectX will crash and possibly freeze my entire computer at the same time. This happens with both 9.0 version and 11, and the error message I managed to get (only a few times an actual error message would show) was 11000002

I've tried the solution posted here http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...11-Issue/page3 but that didn't work, and I ended up playing only a few seconds of the game with the colors in bright yellows and purples...

So... any idea what I can do?

An update. I attempted a few things such as lowering the graphics settings further and further, those did not appear to assist. I used the 'restore settings default' option on the game launcher and for a little while things appeared to have been fixed, but they soon proved not to be so. I also ran other games that use DirectX so I can confirm the issue does not lay with DirectX itself, instead it lays with FFXIV somehow. The most recent crash not only froze my computer temporarily, but it caused 'System Interrupts' to rapidly fluxuate from high levels of CPU usage to none every few seconds. It took a bit of work and restarts to get my machine back in operating condition.

Some additional information for this, my graphics card is a Nvidia GeForce GTX 660, Driver Version 347.52. My rig has 8 Gig of RAM with an Intel Core i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz. My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium

Update - I completely reinstalled FFXIV. I still cannot play on DirectX 11, but DirectX 9.0 appears to have not crashed on me so far.

Another update.
DirectX 9.0 can still crash on me. It just is less predictable.

Edit: Now it's dissolved into predictable... within seconds.

Driver update for graphics card was released, downloaded and installed. Playing on DirectX 11 so far with no crashes.
Research last night suggests running skype alongside the game may be cause of directX crash. Testing that as well but so far so good.

I have been getting these freezes as well in Idyllshire, and its just not working out for me.
