Different worlds community, how to know?

I've been looking all around trying find (hopefully) a general listing of how each world's community is. For say, such'n'such world is primarily end gamers & elitists, but this'n'that is full of arsfarts & numbnuts. Trying to find a world that my wife n I will fit in and connect with without too many, you know. Though, I do understand that every world is gonna have that 1 (or more) guy! Any help, info, opinions and thoughts would be quite helpful. Thx.

Also, how's the housing situation on your servers? Fairly nice turnover or "good luck gettin a place"?

Aside from the "unofficials", ie Balmung (and I wanna say Gilgamesh) being the unofficial RP server(s), and there was a thread not too long ago about the unofficial SE Asia and Oceania server, there's no general listing of what type of community there is on each server. At least not to my knowledge...

Balmung is an unofficial RP server. Exodus is the unofficial dead server.

As a denizen of Coeurl, I can tell you with a straight face that we are pretty far removed from hardcore. There are a few out there that do progression, but mostly we are the pony and BURB farmers that like to have a good time.

Siren is mostly a mix of casual progression players and RP. We used to be a huge server but we aren't anymore, you'd have plenty of breathing room here!

Excalibur has a high raid community but also has a casual crowd as well. The good thing about the server is that there is a little bit of everything. There is a rather large pvp crowd on top of raiding and it is home to many crafters

Due to the sheer number of crafters the market is pretty cheap for many items. The economy is good in that many times normal items I have for sale are sold overnight or fairly quickly. You can make money on this server fast since the demand for all kinds of items is high.

I like the community a lot as I transfered over from a very small server, Famfrit. The one thing I really do appreciate is that there is a lot of opportunity on this server to play how you want. If you want to raid, pvp, craft or whatever, you have the option to here since many people do a little bit of everything. As far as people go, the server seems more mature just from my past experiences.

The only downside perhaps is that learning parties turn into have a clear or know the fight parties within a few days of a patch. You can make your own learning party however and party finders seem to fill up fast regardless even if you may be late to clearing a fight. I also found more success on this server from just learning parties and they have been helpful. My own skill level has improved actually since I decided to move over because the opportunity is there to learn content without a static and in party finder.

Also a good fc can do wonders. My fc is full of people who are married, have kids, and work during the day. Many of them have been playing together since FFXI. Overall its a more mature fc and just that alone has helped me a lot once I transfered over.

So OP...lemme get this straight....

You want a listing that generalizes entire populations of players??

I suggest you just pick a server, play for a while, and see if you like the people there (and if they primarily speak your language). Make characters on several servers to get a feel before transferring your char to your favorite server, even. Elitist/endgame or not, that's primarily for a set group of people to decide. Every server has their good and bad. I'm on a legacy server for example, so we got plenty of "elitists" as some call us 'cus we don't like to party with people who can't or won't learn mechanics/class rotations. There are also some peeps who are the opposite - defend noobs from getting barred/kicked from parties, or can't do mechanics/class rotations, etc. Just find like-minded people and make friends with them. You can't be THAT special that nobody else is like you.

Also, keep in mind the atmosphere/language dominance on any server can change with time. You might like a server now, but not like it later and end up transferring anyway.

Or people could be, you know, nice and helpful human beings that give helpful input to help their fellow peeps for the sole reason of being helpful. Unless that's too hard to fathom. I'm going to assume the latter with how condescending you're speaking to op who posed a simple question.

I think op has a lovely idea, since I've also wondered what other worlds are like besides my own. A very general consensus on server activity is welcome and I wish them the best wherever they choose to go.

Lol, I'm simply saying to NOT try to judge an entire population without getting to know the individuals. Its not really helpful to the OP if people say 1 thing, he goes on X server, and finds something else entirely to be true.
