what I want out of final fantasy xiv

I feel as if gear progression in the game is a little lacking. We get 4-6 raid encounters when patches are added but they all drop the same tier of gear that any non raiding player can get by using tomes. As a serious player I would like to see a gear system where the raid content drops gear in tiers that will help you clear the next turns.
For example: alexander floor one would drop full sets for each job with ilvl 210 gear, then floor 2 would drop full i215 and possibly an I205 weapon, etc
I would also like to see more In world "raiding" with actual loot drops. Like the ultima FATE. I feel like they would be more interesting if the monsters were bigger and had difficult mechanics that scaled with the number of people participating in the event My last request is for an equip slot, purely cosmetic, for back accessories such as wings etc... they can act like mounts or just be there for glamour but I would really like to see faerie or angel wings running around.

I rather like how things are balanced as far as gear goes. The vast majority of players don't do endgame savage raids because they can't, don't want to, or don't like the rather toxic and elitist endgame raider community. Increasing the gear level per floor of a multifloor raid would be self defeating. Beating floor one opens up floor two, and why farm floor one when you can just get the next tier gear in the next floor, but screw that because one clear on floor two opens better gear on floor three, etc.

As far as wings go, I do recall there being, or at least there were, consumable items that gave wings for a short time.

Wouldn't mind this but for face stuff.
Sometimes you wanna wear a hood but still need your swag goggles on, you know?

I'd rather not see wings. FFXIV's style tends to be more european fantasy, with knights and castles and dragons and plate armor and robes and broadswords and whatnot. Wings like you see in all those super anime MMOs like Ragnarok Online or Eden Eternal would look severely out of place. As the occasional eccentric piece of armor, or via a firework, I could see, but as a dedicated slot exclusively to crap like that it would just alter the feel of the game too much.

I would also like to see a progression system similar to your suggestion, gave you a like.

They'd farm the 1st one so they'd be ready for the next floor. Its their funeral if they're under-geared for whats to come when the options were given to them if it was set up that way. I like the idea actually.

Well, see the floors of FFXIV's raids, etc, I believe are really all a single raid, but broken up by boss for convenience. They aren't supposed to exist separately from each other, so in that context having each floor drop a progressively better full set of gear makes little sense. The few pieces of gear you get from lower floors is intended to get you past succeeding floors, but they don't need to be different ilevels. Well that's how it should be. I think SE really fubar'd the tuning of Gordias, which I believe they admitted.
