Not "Summoner", but summons. Free Companies will be able to call the summons. Summoner isn't oging to be a job itself, it doesn't look like.

But the more interesting question is:
What will they summon?

It is safe(I think) to say that Ifrit,Ramuh,Shiva,Odin,Leviathan,and Garuda(And a giant Moogle?) won't be accessible to the summoner class/job according to the interviews.

So..do they get some of the lesser summons? spirits?
Must know. Although, I would prefer info on the beastmaster-esque job more, I'll take any pet info I can get O_O

It wast stated even before SMN was announced that players would be able to summon the primals. (Ifrit, Shiva, Leviathan, Mog, ect.)

I'd be ok with entirely new summons. Go ahead, add to the FF mythos. Players will learn to love the new summons just as much as the old ones.
