Could the players be rewarded for their performance?
I know this is a controversial topic, but let's think about it for a second.
Right now the players are only motivated to clear the content, cutting corners as much as possible, putting the minimal effort their consciousness allows them, just to finish the run and get their loot/tomes.
We could call it participation awards. Everyone gets one. It seems fair, yet it is not fair for the players who put in more effort and try their best.
In my opinion there should be reward based motivation for the players to stay focused on the game instead of something else. There are many ways of doing this. It could be either reward based or punishment based. The rewards of course sound better so could there be some rewards awarded based on the performance?
For example:
Bonus experience.
Bonus tomes.
Bonus gil.
Bonus chests.
Bonus loot like minions or bardings.
Bonus on the rolls.
Priority in the DF queues etc. etc.
Basically something worthy of doing your best instead of sleeping through the run.
We could even add few dungeon objectives here and there to make the dungeons more interesting and more rewarding.
In my opinion positive motivation is the best motivation.
