My address on this common problem.

We all know the issue, people turning the housing feature we know and love(debatable) into a marked, a very successful and cruel market.

The easiest and most common solution would be limiting the number of houses a service account can have. But like a lot of easy splutions it comes with a price.

Those who legitimately play multiple characters to be different people dig their fingers into multiple communities, these are the ones id feel sorry for. Because honestly each character is entitled to one, but like everything else there are people that abuse this.

I don't think limiting per service account is the best idea nor do i think SE will do it cause if theres one thing they love it\\'s balance and this idea you all want is not balanced its very strict and i think there are better ways.


What i propose is a 45 day timer put on your service account across all characters limiting you from buying another plot after purchasing a plot.

This will slow these jerks down by A LOT and they will still be able to do their shitty market but when ishgard houses come they wont be able to stuff a bunch of houses onto one service account but the only downside to this is if they have numbers they will still be aissue cus thats at least 1 house on 1 alt assumjing their timer is up.
With the auto demo active there is no way they could just buy random plots when they happen to show up, no they will have to rely on luck.

Hm. While I don't care that much about sellers, it's probably best for the community to try to stop them, or at least slow some of them down. On top of having a limit to 1 house per account maybe make it so accounts need to be subbed for x amount of months before any of their characters can purchase a house. That'd slow down some of the big sellers, or at least people who want to join the market. New players need to get through a lot of story then make gil anyway, so the sub rule probably wouldn't negatively effect them. Also the sub rule might make SE more money. :P lol

Note that FCs are the easier way to buy a house on an alt. I don't see a way they could reasonably stop that unless if they only allow an account to enter into a single FC, which would be ridiculous.

Also, hell no to limiting a new account from buying a house for months. 1-2 weeks from starting the game, some people will have the necessary story complete and the gil required to buy a small. This will negatively affect them.

I think it's pretty simple: the priority should be one house per player over one house per character. Your character is just a character, is not real, and in reality doesn't give two flips of fig whether it has a house or not because said character is just data on a server.

The player, on the other hand, is real and does care. The player is the one playing the subscription fees and expecting to be able to access all the features of a game with at least one character. I am more concerned with making sure every *player* has a house than I am about making sure every *character* has a house. Once the former is resolved we can look into "wouldn't it be nice if.." scenarios for the latter. Until then, there should be a limit on one home per account.

And, yes, I'm aware that puts FC home owners into a conundrum, but that's a decision you should have to make as a guild leader. Do you want a guild house or a private home? Figure out how serious you are about leading an FC and make a choice. You don't *have* to run one.

It's quite easy. I had that much two weeks into starting the game, and that was over a year ago. It's become even easier since then.

I don't think the average new player clears all the story needed to purchase a house and gets xmillions of gil within two weeks.

Well I personally think those unbelievably rare (or what you refer to as "some") players shouldn't prevent a potential way to help alleviate one of the problems with housing. Not to say I think the sub rule is a great idea. It's an idea. That's all. I'm sure there are much better ideas to deal with the problem.
