Allow us to obtain the refund when relinquishing land

I assume the chance at 80% of your gil for abandoning your land is being used as an incentive to lure unsubscribed players back to the game.

However I don't understand why we can not obtain the 80% gil refund for land when we relinquish our home as well.

Personally I want to upgrade to a medium house if the plot is available once all the abandoned plots are discovered, which of course is not guaranteed at all. But the only way I can do this is cut my losses and hope instead of know I could upgrade in relative peace.

Please let us receive the 80% land refund regardless of how we give up our plots!
Or allow us to be considered as abandoning our homes immediately if we try to purchase a second plot.

I feel that I am being encouraged to simply buy another home on an alternative character, which I know many people have done.

Yea I don't see why they wouldn't allow that. You can however just wait the 45 days and get the gil back currently.

So people can make back their gill twice when they sell their house? I would see a big problem honestly: P

Yep - and that is the issue I suppose with doing such a thing...I think they simply need to put in an official housing AH system like Aion had to resell your plot (with heavy restrictions and/or fees on the time between purchase and auction to prevent rampant flipping.)

I'm sorry, I don't understand. How would someone be making their gil back twice?

The proposed option is to introduce an npc or add an option to an existing npc that allows us to sell back our plot. Whether they'd want us to demolish the house before relinquishing the plot would be SE's decision, but there is no room for making gil back twice. You sell your plot to an NPC and get 80% of your gil back.

What some people did before the 80% refund was buy a lot and relinquish the land for gil, not sell the land but just relinquish their right to it so whoever paid them to could have a chance of buying it.
If it gave the 80% when the person relinquished the land, after already being paid by a player-or-FC, they could make a fortune.

They will get back the 80% Firstly, Secondly they will get someone to pay them to give up their plot, meaning they get twice the money. I can guarantee you this is the sole reason why SE haven't done it that way.
Cause i could basicly, buy up houses. Get 80% back and sell the houses for 200-500% their value.

I don't know what the right answer is, but there definitely needs to be some sort of game-sanctioned market for housing.
The alternative right now is an 'underground' housing market that encourages scamming and ridiculous markups.

Agreed.
As of right now, the only way people can "buy" houses is to buy an entire FC that already has a house.

They could make it so if you relinquish your plot it wont be purchasable for an hour (or more) after. "Buying" a plot would be 10x more sketchy, and not worth it, because an empty plot will draw attention and anyone could sit there and wait for the cooldown timer to run out. However I don't think this should apply to plots demolished after 45 days of inactivity. Kinda pointless, since abandoned plots wont always open up all at the same time(not always every 45 days at x time). The plot will open up 45 days since the last person entered the house. Only the first wave will be predictable.
