3.1 PLD Changes

Job Adjustment

• Paladin's main problem is the compatibility with current contents.

• Adjustments will be made to address TP issues, but no adjustment will be made to Paladin's DPS.

• They are aware that currently Clemency and Divine Veil do not have many uses in current content.

No DPS change? What a massive disappointment. Maybe SE isn't aware of their own meta that they created.

lol they seriously think that we take DRK over PLD for utility, magic mitigation or something like that ? No SE. It's for the deeps.

And even if they make fights with more physical damage and less DPS checks, PLD current "superiority" mitigation-wise is unnecessary, it's overkill mitigation, so unless they make fights which are not survivable by anything other than a PLD (which would be even more unbalanced), the optimal MT will stay DRK if they don't touch PLD's MT DPS a little bit.

Paladin OT DPS is similar to the other tanks, off by a small margin. MT DPS is where Paladin suffers due to enmity generation.

If they increase Paladin's ability to gain enmity first where Paladin can stance dance without losing hate, they can see whether they still need to make adjustments... Would be my guess. They already said they'd be doing something with PLD enmity a while ago so I guess we'll see.

You want PLD dps? Play it as OT. There's always going to be a party composition that does max dps, why does it matter to you if it's PLD+WAR, PLD+DRK or WAR+DRK? Everyone's just going to jump on the bandwagon of whatever top raid groups use instead of thinking for themselves and being willing to lose a small amount of dps to let people play whatever they want.

Your mindset doesn't change the current imbalance. It just gives a reason for people that don't care about their groups shitty composition to play what they want.

That's disappointing. Though after playing WoW for so long I'm pretty much resigned to the idea of certain classes being screwed over/unintentionally ignored. I suspect the developers don't play PLD very often - which wouldn't surprise me given how the 'face' of FFXIV is both a WAR and a DRG.

Regardless of agreeing or disagreeing with anything that's been said so far in this thread, I can't see how this comes as a suprise to anyone. =/

Because how war was treated in 2.1 ? No? Do we forgot the massive overhaul they got and how PLD it's been treated?

If Pld doesn't get any "dps" changes, then it better actually have the ability to increase party dps if not its own dps. If not, it's a dead class for endgame. TP changes really don't impress me much, and does very little to me. Pld will still be a viable class, but with no dps changes will always remain distant second rate class in the game's meta currently.

Pld's lack of dps is a main part of that, and is built into the class by the devs themselves. I feel like the devs just don't recognize it's a design flaw, and will always hurt Plds in endgame content in the future. If the devs are not going to change Plds dps then I better see HUGE utility changes to the point they seem OP, and those utilities actually do make it were groups reconsider about having a Pld in thier group versus the other two tanks.

Idk I am just tired of fighting for Pld buffs, and already had to wait so long, and atm it only seems like minor changes. TP changes...kay? I hope that is lowering the TP cost of Shield Bash. But not even a mention of enmity changes for Pld, if I got that I would actually be half way happy, but nothing was said about it, really? I'll back off I guess till 3.1 is released to see if there are other changes to Pld. If not, I will likely rant about how BS this is, and just say screw it, nothing will change, and start maining Warrior, if the devs won't change anything into the right direction for Pld.

And sorry for the already short rant. This is just has been frustrating for a long time now.

That was a defensive overhaul that was a straight-up requirement to clear the content. PLD can clear content right now. People just unanimously don't like to use it because its inefficient.
