So classes scale into jobs, right?
Bard is looking like it uses a bow type of weapon... does this mean archer? I really do not want to have to level archer to play a bard...

Dont' play bard then, simples.
i know i should not laugh. but i see so many bow's attached to ppls backs. i think it looks like one of the most popular classes, and its just my opinion but it looks like the worse job
I haven't heard anything from the devs that says specific classes come to be specific jobs. All I've read is that you have to be level 30 in order to get a job quest. Maybe I'm missing a piece of info, but I think it'll be free choice like in FFXI.
You get the job at Lv.30 (unlock a quest). so, it's no big deal.
I always wanted to be a Bard. I'm an archer now, so victory for me! I'm glad all my personal handwritten letters to SE worked. Sorry everyone else!
Jobs are locked to a 1:1 ratio. One class, one job (for now). It looks like the following will hold true:
Conjurer - White Mage
Thaumaturge - Black Mage
Gladiator - Paladin
Marauder - Warrior
Pugilist - Monk
Lancer - Dragoon
Archer - Bard
If you want to play Bard... you got it. You're gonna have to level an ARC. Too bad you didn't do it prior to the class changes of 1.19, as it would have been a lot easier.
I know people say the classes aren't related, but as per the traditional definition of a Bard, it works fine with the lore present in the game. So I really don't foresee a problem. I also have ARC to 50 though, so...
NOT THIS AGAIN. FOR THE LOVE OF THE TWELVE, NOT THIS AGAIN.
I swear, lalafell, I will quote every insightful post in all three of the Barcher threads.
