I noticed that the colored recipes utilize the initial base gear that's been crafted already, so I guess that makes sense.
For ex: http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com...assId=&rankId=
No ones updated their gear stats on websites and wikis :/ I would love to just pore through the gear right now in a list to see what's up, and didn't feel like loggin on just to do it haha
I'd still like to experiment a bit, but yes, coloring items does change its stats from the base item and can also add class restrictions.
For example, Felt Halfgloves are usable by all classes, but Red Felt Halfgloves are only usable by DoH.
And like any other crafting process, when coloring you can start with an HQ base item and very likely not end up with an HQ colored item. ><
"Could screw up a wet dream" comes to mind
It is a bit odd, I wonder if its even working as intended.
I really dont' like this dying system anyway, you shouldn't have a chance of loss on something as basic as dying an item. (at least not when the item is already 100%)
Geez, really? Isn't the entire purpose of colouring items supposed to be a purely aesthetic option? Adding restrictions (either direct or indirect) based on colour seems to defeat the entire purpose of having different coloured versions of the same item to begin with.
