Game Crashes at launch

First off, I have a second gtx 970 I am going to SLI. I had problems getting it to recognize the SLI bridge, so I removed it and am returning it to the store. I have another MSI twin frozr V gtx 970 coming tomorrow. I am wondering if my game is crashing because of lack of VRAM on my 4k tv which I am playing through HDMI. As you can see I am trying a second reinstall of the steam version of ffxiv:arr. I've tried both dx9 and dx 11 to no avail. I had this problem with a couple other of games as well...I deleted the config files for video settings, and got it to work that way. I am wondering where to find said file for FFXIV...if that is even my problem. Everything worked fine until I switched tvs. I was running at 1080p and now I have a 4k tv, along with the updates it needed to run, since then, game crashes at launch. Would feel kind of stupid if it was because of lack of vram for this display. Still, I have used my nvidia control panel to go back to 1080p, and the game still did not launch. Is this a win 10 4k gaming issue I am unaware of? Any help would be great, and thank you in advance for your time.
