SCH AF2 gear

Why is there so little Critical Hit Rate and Determination in all of SCHs AF2 gear?

Did anything change, is Piety considered the best for SCH now?

Afaik, previously, you'd want as much as possible of Determination and Critical Hit Rate but in AF2 you'll get the least of them.
I'd imagine the developers sit down and think about what stats to put on a certain piece.

Both AST and WHM get more of Determination and Critical Hit Rate. .-.
Do our developers consider Piety and Spell Speed to be a good stat for SCH? Or was SCH simply too powerful? :b

I think SquEnix really, really, really regrets giving Aldoquim its crit bonus, as seen by how Nocturnal Field doesn't have a crit bonus.

But at the same time, they don't want to just flat out remove it, because people will riot.

So instead they're just removing crit from Scholar gear so they don't have to remove Aldocrit. Which is incredibly stupid ._.

There had to be a drawback for looking so dang good.

Unfortunately this removes the potential crit cure/aldo prettymuch, but on the other hand did we actually think and expect "I will get a cure crit on this tank"? Nope. It was always just a lucky proc.

However I admit to being salty about less crit than an AST rofl.

Maybe the dev just wanted to put the best gear on the actual end-game raid? Even so the BiS is always a mix and match from Esoterics gear and Gordian gear.

Mix and match with Gordian for SCH BiS you get to 800 crit rating on your SCH. Its the way BiS has always worked :).

Also bare in mind the WHM dont really want all that crit on their gear, so its not just SCH AF2 thats suboptimal on stats.

That has been the case indeed. But it doesn't deter from the fact that your job gear is somewhat less desirable. (or being complete garbage...)

So, what happened is a massive boost in Piety and an equally heavy loss in Critical Hit Rate, moderate loss in Spell Speed and a slight increase in Determination. (yay! ._.)

I guess they want to make us use Dissipation that badly. Faerie doesn't benefit from Piety or Spell Speed. It just seems to me like someone misplaced these attributes on SCH's and WHM's gear.

They are probably doing this on purpose.
CritHit rate is the very good on every healer and every dps, but it was the best on SCH with adlo crit. So they nerfed it on purpose to probably "not make it OP".
Spellspeed is probably the best on WHM with regen and medica2 ticks, so WHM has the least spellspeed again "not to make it OP". Though i dont get why WHM would get 3 times higher crit rate than SCH from equipment.
So far from looking at equipment looks like square has made SCH into a healer with huge mana pool, that is able to sustain long fights.
However this whole spellspeed thing imo should split some into at least determination.

Also people are kind of freaking out but secondary stats are very meh - at that 800 crit you get like a ~15 % rate. If you had 800 crit in the 2.xx formula that would have been like a 35% crit chance. For comparison 650 crit gives you ~12% rate. This is why when I see sch wearing things that are 10-20 ilvls behind just for crit I facepalm a little bit. You'd get more out of the significant amount of mind youre giving up.

Basically I don't think it's a really huge deal. Also I feel like SE randomly slaps stats onto stuff without as much thought as people give them credit for.

Yep you are absolutely right there :). End of the day, what matter more is the persons skill combined with the cushion ilvl threshold can give you in content (ie more hp to survive things, more healing throughout from more mind).

Don't forget the impact that MND and Det has on fairies that will help scale them back to reliable levels.
