I main a PLD. Always have and always will. I know the PLD is the weakest tank and has the worst aoe dps of any of the tanks at the moment, but I still them it. The WAR has always been more versitile when it comes to MT or OT and has had skills to support both and that's what seperates it from the Def heavy PLD. However, I just recently learned that has pretty much destroyed some of the things that made PLD special.
The WAR has a DPS stance called Deliverance that gives them 5% increased base damage and can gain 10% increase to crit hit rate with access to a 500 potency attack when full. Did the WAR really need more damage increase at this point? They can already increase their DPS with a buff and it was always a great dps when wearing slaying accessories.
The PLD now has a skill called Clemency that cures for 1200 potency. It takes 40-45% of our total MP to cast, has a 3 second cast timer, and when used to heal others, 50% of the heal comes back to us. Pretty neat skill, but can't be used quick and only useful if the healer dies or by yourself. However, SE gave the WAR a better self heal. Are you fucking shitting me? It's called Equilibrium. It has no cast time, cures 1200 potency with in Defiance and gives 200 TP while in Deliverance, and is off the CGD. Is this a giant joke by SE? Can the other tanks not have anything to call their own? At this point I'm worried SE will give the WAR's a Hallowed Ground of their own.
Why is SE doing this? Why are they giving so much love and versatility to one tank other the others? When are they going to show the PLD some love? Am I just crazy to think this is complete bull?

The changes made them do more damage out of tank stance & less damage in tank stance.(which had the crit bonus) Their self heal is only a self heal, which limits what they can do with it compared to PLD. PLD casting on another player also results in an effective 50% potency boost, or 1800 potency. Clemency is very good used in A4, and I'm thinking it may actually be a nice life saver in addition to Sheltron after getting rocked by Jagd Doll + Boomcannon on DRK, which does damage based on how low your HP is. Keep in mind WAR also have a 60 second cool down on it.
SE is pushing WAR further into the OT slot with these new abilities. You wouldn't care if you didn't have to compete with DRK for the MT slot. -

Lol. When I started playing, WAR was the underdog getting hated on until a series of buffs and then it was considered "on par" by the community but still not favoured for a long time because PLD was safer. Now WAR is getting some love in the community, leave it be. Our heals are different and a lot of people will prefer equilibrium, but that heal suits WAR whereas Clemancy suits PLD. It's like the discussion on our stuns, off GCD is nice, but on GCD has more usefulness and dependability in the hands of a good tank.
There is still balancing going on and things are never "perfect" when trying to offer variety to the players. Currently WAR is in a good place for endgame content but healers are still dreading them in DF and such because too many don't know how to use deliverance. -

Homogenization makes balance easier. It's as simple as that. The additions to all of the other classes also point to this being what is going on.
- Every Tank now has two stances.
- All Ranged DPS now do their best/most efficient damage when standing completely still.
- Most DPS now have to manage the uptime of a special buff in order to optimize damage.
- Healers are now closer to equal in AoE healing ability, single target ability, and MP management. -

PLD is the only one that should get a heal. Our cross class is CNJ for crying out loud. Self heals make zero sense for WAR since there's nothing that would even suggest they could heal at all.Quote:
