When does the reduction of damage on Holy go away? After combat?
What? That's not how holy works. Imagine tank pulls a crowd of 10 mobs and you holy once.
1st mob takes full potency (200 potency)
2nd mob takes -10% damage compared to the 1st (180 potency)
3rd mob takes -20% damage compared to the 1st (160 potency)
4th mob takes -30% dmg compared to the 1st (140 potency)
5th mob takes -40% dmg compared to the 1st (120 potency)
6th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th mobs take -50% damage compared to the 1st (100 potency)
So if you spam holy on single target, that same mob will take the 200 potency consistently, if you spam holy on 2 targets, one will take 200 potency and the other will take 180 potency consistently and so on
I hate that the term for enemies is mob, it doesn't even make sense lol a mob means a group of something yet in ff we use it to describe a single enemy. Shrugs. The poster above has it right though, but I haven't noticed too much of a difference from before since it's still pretty potent. If anything you might end up with 1 or 2 that don't die but are left with like 5% HP so still better than nothing. Love holy!
Aye. As far as I know, it's short for 'mobile (creature)' and actually referred to NPCs of all kinds that were capable of moving on their own, rather than only hostile NPCs. Can't remember which specific MUD coined the term, though. :(
OK, but how the game knows who is the first mob? You don't need to target enemies for holy, but I guess if you target a mob, it will be #1. Wich is the #2? The mob closest to you? closest to the target? closest to the tank? closest to the boss? closest to the wall???
Considering the mechanic it is PROBABLY not with targeting. It's rather the closest to you. If multiple mobs are on the same distance it probably has another internal failsafe.
Indeed! If one pays close attention, especially with lots of mobs, you see how the damage kind of travels outward from your position, rather than hitting everything simultaneously. It's especially noticable if two mobs are far apart from each other. Same behaviour can be seen with Assize and our other AoE heals as well.
