Guild Marks & The Crafting Changes

So yesterday a friend in my linkshell told me that the 1.19 crafting patches will abolish the crafting books we can buy from the guild mark vendors.

Is this true?

And if so, have S.E made any mention of re-imbursing those of us that bought crafting books (I'd bought one about 10 minutes before my friend told me about this information)?

Negatory, They are not being removed. The new synths will simply not require that you have them.

Just in case your not aware of how they function now. Not possessing the recommended skill book causes your success rate per action to take a bit of a hit. Its functionally the same thing with synthesis support only not as severe (the game seems to be a bit more forgiving if you have any tier of support)

It seems like they will be shifting it so you will have a baseline fail/success rate (other math magic not withstanding) with support/books acting as well shockingly enough bonuses. at least that's my take on it.

Ah ok ty. I saved up and bought the Cloth Weaving book and when my friend told me the books were being removed it made me kind of 'meh'. Glad to know that I can still do Guild Clothshop + Cloth Weaving book = Rank 29 recipe as Rank 22 ^.^

In which case I can buy my Leatherworking book now, I was saving the marks for after 1.19 so there's quite a supply going :3

As with secondary class skills, crafting facilities and treatises are virtually essential for current recipes. New recipes, however, will require neither at this point in time.

Actually, i'm almost certain they replied and said that come 1.20, crafting treatises as they exist now will be removed. This is because the new recipes will no longer require the exact same ones ,or at all. However, everyone will be getting refunded their guild marks for all purchased abilities/treatises so as to be able to acquire the new ones.

I cannot for the life of me find the link...but it's out there somewhere.

Until a link is produced I'm not going to be able to believe that. I mean if they were going to outright remove them, why beat around the bush with 1.19's changes? It even says right there that alternate uses are being considered for them. Why would they state that, then say they're removing them later anyway?

I think the treatises are a good idea, however even if they are removed it's not a huge deal.

I know that i've seen this somewhere else in relation to the new synthesis recipes, guild facilities and guild marks, possible it was one of the interviews floating around this summer; however, they're pushing the same concept for DoW/DoM classes, so it stands to reason the same would apply for DoH/DoL:

Actions Obtainable via Quests and Guild Marks
Actions falling into this category will be brought under re-examination, which will include a review of developmental direction. This will be done together with the planned revisions we have for actions in the future. As this may result in drastic changes to certain actions, we are considering ways to allow players to reselect actions, such as a refund of guild marks.

The blurb that i'm talking about mentioned the sustainment of treatises through 1.20 because they are keeping old recipes and new recipes side-by-side until then. That would be the 'alternate' uses mentioned, providing a bonus or standard boost as they do now. After that, all the old recipes won't work, along with the treatises directly tied to those recipes.

This is why they'd get rid of the current system that's in place, and implement it with something else, in order to mesh with the new recipe system. When that happens they're not just going to tell everyone, 'Hai guyz, you spent 100k GM, sorry but you gotta start over from scratch!' They'll refund our marks.

I'm not going to argue the point any further really, I know that i've seen the information in print somewhere. Aside from that, logic would dictate that with all of the overhauls happening lately, this would be coming down the pike as well.
