Being Blacklisted.....

Just a quick question for anyone who knows for sure. If you've been blacklisted, can you still find the person who BL'd you in the player search function? I've heard some say yes and others say no. I just wondered if there's anyone who has tested this.

I would say no. Only because I'm pretty sure that is how the RMT spam people, using the player search function. So after you black list them you no longer get the spam from that name. Of course all they do is add a letter or what have you and there they are again.

If you've been blacklisted then chances are you wouldn't get along very well with that person anyway. Why spend energy looking them up in player search?

Unfortunately I can't offer confirmed data on the search function's... functionality, but in other contexts (namely PF), if someone is blacklisted, their entry is greyed out (or if they have blacklisted you, you cannot join their parties, etc). Essentially, they are still visible, but just cannot be interacted with.

I would've thought you no longer get the spam from them because they've been blacklisted and thus all their text messages have been blocked.

Yes, but how else do they get your name to spam you in the first place? Automated program using the player search function for the area that you are in, probably why it happens almost instant when you teleport to a new area, well on this server anyways

Someone in my FC blacklisted a friend as a joke, when the friend would speak in FC chat, the person who blacklisted him could not see the words he was typing, like everyone else could.

I would assume if you are blacklisted, you can search them, but not message them.

Hey, I never said I was the one who's BL'd. I just want to make sure the person I BL'd can't find me instantly and teleport to where I'm at. I BL'd someone and it still seems like they are everywhere I am. That's why I need to know if they can still search for you and find you after being BL'd.

You're undoubtedly correct. But that could very well continue to work. You pop in, they search you, they /tell you just like they always do. You just never see it because the blacklist blocks their /tell.

Ah, that makes more sense. If they are purposely following you then that would be grounds to report them for harassment. Then again, they could have other reasons for being in those places too.

I guess what you could do is have a friend do an experiment with you, have them blacklist you and then see if you can still look them up.
