Area targeting for PC Users Extremely Frustrating

Please fix this huge UI design flaw that affects new players on PC. When using keyboard, why does the ground area target circle not show up unless the mouse is moved? It is also not obvious that the mouse needs to be moved. Many players who come from FFXI use keyboard only/mainly. Things like activating a caster limit break or using the Flame Arrow ability should be intuitive on keyboard.

Also, why is ground targeting with a cannon different from the above types of ground targeting? In some players' HUD, the pet hotbar for activating a cannon (not a pet) is hidden behind the party list.

Because ground area targeting is not intuitive on keyboard, IT IS GAME-BREAKING when a limit break or cannon doesn't go off at the crucial moment, and there is no way to practice these things out of duty.

Please fix this asap!

I play on pc with a controller and there is an option to swap between both types of targeting, one that's fixed to the camera and the other that follows the mouse.
I dont know if it's only an option for controllers, so sorry if I made a worthless comment.

Edit: although it says gameplay mode like it's specific to that mode, I was able to lock the cursor in mouse mode.

Character config, control settings, target, ground targeting settings, target ring. Set to unlocked. I think you may need to key bind controller buttons to manually move it

It was promptly ignored in favor of things like special music for the pony mounts... It's nice to see that petty things like BGM for a mount was rated higher in priority than functioning gameplay controls.

I wasn't even the first one to bring this idea up, either. Best of luck to you, though! I really would like to see some sort of AoE placement adjustments for keyboard use.

Not that I think it would be a bad idea to implement some accessibility for this, are you playing without your mouse? o.O

The pet hotbar for cannons can be moved. Players of any modern mmo should explore the menus and options before doing ANYTHING. Set your UI how you like it, get familiar with the options the game offers, and place hotbars to your preference.
