[Request] SmartCast system for manual AoEs

Can we get a Smart Cast feature for our manually placed AoE's?

What I mean by this, is the ability to toggle on/off a feature that would automatically place any manual AoE, such as Shadow Flare, mage limit break, Sacred Soil, etc, on our current target rather than having to manually place the cursor before applying the ability.

Sometimes it's important to place these AoE's in a very specific position, and the current system is great for that. However, most of the time it doesn't really matter where they are placed, just so long as they get dropped in a timely manner.

The ability to toggle a feature would greatly streamline out ability to place ground AoE's.

I would love the ability to leave it as is AND and a toggle option in the character menu, to use them centered around current target.

Agree. The camera should "snap" to the current target when placing manual aoes, and the user should be able to adjust its position from there. Easy upvote. Makes perfect sense.

    EDIT: I'd like to recant slightly, since a 70% solution is available through Macros;

/lockon <t> (locks tgting and camera on to current target)
/ac "sacred soil" ("opens" the AOE for placement)
/lockon (removes target/camera lock, allowing free placement of AOE)

This will snap your camera most of the way towards your target, but will not center the circle on it.

There could be a General Action for this.

    Precision Cast
    Cast Time: none.
Recast time: 2.5 seconds (modified by skill/spell speed)
Effect: your next placeable skill become centered at the position of your enemy or friendly target when you cast the skill.
    Usable by: all battle jobs/classes.

EDIT: change "for 2.5 seconds" to "your next", add "enemy or friendly"

It's not changing what our character is doing, just adjusting how the HUD interface lets us tell the software about what we want our character to do. That shouldn't require use of a character skill.

Right. I'm not looking to change any of the jobs in any way. I'm simply looking for better, more efficient, controls for the existing jobs. This affects many jobs, too.

It's basically the same thing. I'm just providing a specific implementation. Be it via an action, or via a keybind/controller setting, or even an configuration window setting, they're all just different implementations of the same thing.

I prefer it as an action (skill) because I could then macro it into certain things. If it was a feature that can only be accessed via keybinds/controller settings (e.g. hold down R2 in ground placement mode auto centers placement on current taget), then it has limited potential for automation. Not that I'm demanding automation, just that it seems to me to be more flexible that way.

Makes sense as stated above to center on your current target and then allow you to move it afterwards.

Forum rules specifically prohibit "bumping". Your suggestion has the same consideration all the others do.
