Due to the rampant amount of RMTs that are constantly spamming me with tells, I've opted to turn them off completely. This however, means friends have no way to get my attention besides sending me a party invite out of no where or getting ahold of me outside of the game.
I am curious, would it be possible to add a filter so that you can only receive tells from players on your friends list? This would make it easy to choose who exactly you can get them from and prevent the RMT from spamming us from being nearly as much an issue as it is currently.

I think this is a great idea. I'm tired of having to set myself to "busy" all the time. The ideal situation would be if they could just control gold spammers better, but clearly that isnt happening. Adding a UI option for this would be a nice compromise.

I have often thought this would be an excellent way to circumvent the many RMT tells I see on a regular basis. To take this a step further, I would also like to see an option to to turn on and off Friend requests. I'm sure we have all seen the RMT's friend requesting, which is a major pain to decline. So having the option to accept tells from friends only as well as turn on and off friend requests, would ensure that only those legitimate people on my friends list could communicate via tells, and the RMT 'friend requests' would also disappear.

It still cuts off conversations with random strangers, which means the game still loses most of the social aspect of being an MMO. I'd prefer text filtering of spam, a proper reporting feature, and SE actually banning the bots as soon as they're identified. Those would work towards removing the problem rather than towards letting us better isolate ourselves to hide from it.Quote:

Then they'll just have an ongoing process of creating a character, putting into the leveling pipe and then spam telling and exiting, and getting new leveled character out of the pipe.Quote:
