Are they ever

Anyone ever wonder if se will ever make special mounts for the rest of the jobs instead of just tanks. I understand that they are trying to make more people play tank jobs. But shouldn't they expand that to more then just tank jobs. Like to the healer jobs and the dps. I feel kinda left out that I see all these posts about tank jobs getting special mounts and I don't play tank jobs. I really think Se needs to get there heads outta just tank jobs get special mounts or pvpers get special mounts and not the rest of the jobs. Anyone agree with me?

That's what I'm hearing. And you know what? Tank still comes up as the most common "adventurer in need" on Duty Roulette. Even with all the incentives, there still aren't enough tanks.

But, y'know what? You're right. Let's give special class mounts to all the classes. And ninety million gil. And instant level fifty on everything.

Don't tank? That's fine. You don't get the special reward for it. Want 'em? Man up and tank.

Once you have the Lion and the Bear, you don't actually care and see their design faults.

Think theres more ponies running around out there than special mounts.

I don't use mine.

There'll be way more mounts in 3.0. And, with everyone and their mother getting a DRK in 3.0, the tank problem should be alleviated somewhat. We may not get good tanks, but we'll have more of them. :p

SE missed the point with the tank mounts anyway, since the content they're rewarded for - ex primals and coil - never had an absence of tanks to begin with. The content where this would have helped, dungeons, low level stuff, where the "adventurer in need" bonus pops for tanks all the time, doesn't really gain anything from these mounts. It only makes people do what I do: spam T4 200 times on each tank job for the mounts, just to switch back to my main job after and go farm something else. It is not an incentive to play one of the tank jobs in content where they are missing.

Even worse for WHM, which just requires getting to 30 WHM and doing a quest. So, it's progress. . .

As to OP, they already (failingly) did it with WHM. SCH could use one, maybe, but there's absolutely no reason to give it to the DPS. In fact, giving it to the DPS jobs is the exact opposite of productive. You want a unique mount, you fill a role people don't want to fill.

We don't need mounts for every job. The whole point was to add extra incentive to tank content, as you have mentioned. So how does that work if every job got a mount?

I actually wouldn't mind seeing a unique mount for each job. Just because there's an abundance of DPS (and the number of DPS jobs far outnumber the number of Tank or Healer jobs) doesn't mean those jobs shouldn't get attention. A cosmetic on your mount to do 8-man content is no real incentive to be that particular role. However, the incredibly short queue-times are.

But yes, someone already pointed out the Unicorn for WHM. Though I don't look forward to the DRK flood when Expansion drops - though hopefully that'll phase out after a month, the people who play it because it looks cool or uses a zweihander. I've encountered enough Tanks that somehow make it to KotL through the cool factor of axes and/or swords and playing the game like it's a single-player game or that they're the only one that matters and everyone else is a NPC. My gawd the horror....

Is all that really necessary? I understand your point of view, but really there's no reason to be a dickhead when someone is just stating an opinion.


Anyway, white mages also get a mount all to their own, so I don't really see why it would be out of the question. I often wondered about that myself. I know they included incentives specifically for tanks, but i think the main reason why tanks and sometimes healers are in such short supply is because of a lack of variety. I usually tank in MMOs myself, but neither paladin or warrior really appeal to me. I do intend on trying dark knight out in the expansion however.

Everyone loves to claim how WHM gets a mount, when actually, Conjurer gets the mount.

When a Realm Reborn was released, there were 8 starting classes, and only one of them was a healing role. Due to the 5 dungeons and a trial before level 30 that (more or less) required a healer, SE was wise to incentivise people to play that role from 1-30. This actually has absolutely nothing to do with Scholar not getting a mount and white mage getting one. That is false.

And of course, as mentioned, if you want the bread, sometimes you have to go get the grain.
