Red Mage

I don't know if the development team has done this but I'm curious if it would be possible to have a Red Mage job. I know we have Black Mage and stuff but I thought it'd be a good suggestion. I started playing the original Final Fantasy on my iPad and it had one that was cool. I hope I'm not asking to much. I'd like to think that having a Red Mage would be like a revival of an old tradition or something. Please let me know what you guys think! ^_^ :p

I would love it! I don't know much about this game just yet, but I played a Red Mage/White Mage all throughout my career of FFXI~

Would like to see more of the traditional oldschool FF jobs instead of some of the newer stuff (Astrologian, Machinist, etc).

Lets get some Blue/Red Mages and stuff going.

I'll sit on my normal stance whenever this sort of thread comes up: make it LESS/NOTHING like the FFXI incarnation and more like the original ones. That, or ONLY allow NPCs to be RDM.

EDIT: Want to elaborate on this for clarification. When you come into a game expecting to be able to play a job the way you want to play(RDM has ALWAYS been portrayed as a melee mage, front line casting black/white magics), yet shoehorned into doing nothing but casting a cycle of 2-4 spells and nothing else otherwise at risk of being ridiculed, kicked out of any group, etc, you can see how that leaves a bad taste for the FFXI incarnation of RDM to me.

Sadly though, I don't think the concept of Red Mage could really work within the boundaries of the Armoury System - Red Mage by design uses both White and Black Magic and sword skills, while with the Armoury System Job abilities can not be shared cross class - nor is there any 'doubling up' of abilities between classes either, which would leave the Job with just cross class skills to use (which after all, when cross classed abilities lose their potency that they would have on their native class.

Plus, spells and abilities often associated with the Red Mage (like 'Convert' or 'Doublecast') are already used by other classes and Jobs, meaning it simply wouldn't have anything to really set it apart from other classes and Jobs. Even their weapon type (swords) are already taken by another class (GLA), meaning they're pretty much rendered superfluous I'm sorry to say.

And before you pass judgement that because we already have WHM and BLM here, we should therefore have RDM too, FF Tactics never had RDM either (probably for the same reason as I mentioned).

I'd like more creative/new stuff to be honest, or a good mix...
One older Job then a new one so everyone is happy.

RDM tank, please look forward to it.

I honestly rather see blue mage than red mage, but that's just me.
