Issues having both digital and physical FFXIV on the same service account

I own FFXIV for PS4 on disc, but decided I'd like to have it digitally on PS4 instead, so I bought it digitally. When I go to log in, it wants me to make a new service account for the game, and gives me no other options. It says if I make a new account I won't have access to any of my characters or anything else and that I should click "back" if that's not what I want. However clicking back gives me no option other than to go forward again. I cannot choose a service account.

This is on the launcher screen, not the world and character select screen.

I also have the PC version registered to my current service account.


I don't wish to make a new service account and start over.

Is there a number I should call to help resolve this issue?

The SE support line to permanently disassociate your old account from your PS profile is sort of a last resort, but I have heard people in certain situations get help there.

That said... You can always create a new PS profile on the console. When you login to it, you can associate a different ffxiv licence to your console. Then you merely need to switch profiles to switch accounts at will.

Wait, so would that allow me to use my old account and characters on my PS4? The issue is I don't want anything to happen to them and I don't want to start over.

Also making a separate profile on PS4 requires an additional PSN account, which is kind of a hassle.

I ended up making the new service account after finding out I could still pick the old one from someone who had a similar problem.

I've run the game now and am using my old service account just fine. The issue is resolved.
