When you post items for sell it displays how long those items will be listed on the market board (1 week I think).
Im going to be away for over a week and I have about 25 items listed that will expire before then. What happens once the time is up, especially if my retainer who is selling doesn't have the space? Will I lose them?

i have walked away from the game for 3 weeks befor and when i came back it said they were selling 0 items, you do not lose the items, all you have to do it go in a reset the price to get them back on the MB

They remain in your retainer's "Things I'm trying to sell" list, the retainer simply does not offer them on the market board. When you get back, all you need to do is summon your retainer and dismiss them, and their items will go back on the market.
