[Second Attempt] Add Whitelist, Modify Blacklist, Do SOMETHING against RMT

[This post contains the problem, the second contains my suggestions/solutions]

My chat log is gone. Absolutely filled to the brim with pink text. Like most players on Goblin, I have resorted to using /busy.

Downside, I can't get tells from actual people, I can't confirm Ready Checks, players are unable to initiate trades with me... etc. This is NOT a viable option. My blacklist is capped, and when I empty it, I immediately get more tells from the people that were blacklisted, because they haven't been banned. My blacklist is then filled before the day is over.

There needs to be a WHITELIST option of people who can send you tells, OR there needs to be an option that only Friends/Linkshell members can send you tells. Reporting an RMT takes far too long, and I have previously suggested that we implement a "Report RMT" from the chatlog, but there are just too many RMTs. This button would still be useful in helping GMs take action, but it would overall not improve the player experience.

Please, please address this. Whenever I read "Actions taken against RMTs" it becomes a joke, because the second I log in I am bombarded with tells from them. I am at my wits end, and the constant barrage of tells from them has become such a disturbance that I find myself taking more and more breaks from actually playing the game out of frustration.

I took a nap 2 nights ago while logged in and counted the tells I received in the 4 hours I was afk. I got 71 tells, in 4 hours from RMT.

A report button won't work for the same reason the blacklist is useless. The RMT just make new accounts faster than they are banned. The solution is so simple, I find it harder and harder to believe that SE actually wants to stop the harassment. There's no way humanly possible to send tells to 100 people a minute, so it's easy to tell who is breaking the ToS.

Limit people to 1 tell every 10 seconds, or something similar. This has proven to crush RMT tells in other MMOs including SEs own FFXI. I won't hold my breath though. if they wanted to fix the problem it'd a been fixed long ago.

I agree. I am SO FED UP. This has gotten WAY too far out of hand. Sometimes it feels like.. are you even trying SE?

I'm a programmer. I understand the challenges with pattern recognition. But, if nothing else, throw RAW MANPOWER at it. Put enough people on the servers to ban these bots as they come in.

To say this is depreciating my value of the game is an understatement.

Add a d**ned "report spam" option under blacklist. Your 10 step process to report these bots is ridiculous. Help us to help you.

Put in ways to mitigate the issue until you can resolve it completely. If you don't feel comfortable banning someone by the frequency of their tells, than put a squelch on them for 5 minutes time if they send more than 5 tells in 10 seconds. I dont care. Do something, and tell us you are doing something. Something more than that copy-paste templated "we banned people last week" notification.

I love the seasonal events that you guys put out, and such, but you need to stop doing that until you resolve this issue. Dedicate that manpower to fixing this problem until you get your house in order.

You can squeeze into a Character capped server during the odd times when its available. I'm on Balmung, and I get maybe 5 RMTs a day. As in a 12 hour weekend play day.

Of course, that's not practical or helpful at all.

I had no idea it was so bad on the less populated servers.

A white list seems impractical, though I wonder if allowing friends to whisper people who are busy would be a desirable quick fix.

all those stupid heart and stars in the rmt tells are god damn annoying, for awhile it didnt seem so bad with their short little messages but now its 6 lines of text mess.

and although some days I don't get many most its 10 an hour or something.

these tells have to be bought under control, surely theres plenty of automated methods SE could use and of course literally have a mod sit on a server for an hour and collect the rmt tell names then instantly ban them.

this really wouldn't be hard but since nothing seems to happen it makes you wonder if SE isn't just condoning it

More Manpower. The ability to restrict tells to friends, fellow FC members and/or fellow LS members. Requiring L20 to use /shout. Better automated detection. The amount of potential options are staggering. Pick something. This spam is going to bring the next Calamity.

What about making it so you can't send tells until level 3 or so? It would greatly reduce the number of character sending them which would make the blacklist quite a bit more useful. Settings while on /busy would help to. Just put check boxes so we can choose to allow or disallow certain things while busy (ready checks, tells from friends or fc mates, etc.).
