Can we have boxes?

You know to group things together for giving to others - or even MB sales.

Maybe in sizes, 2, 3, 4, 5 and multiples of the 2, 3, 4, 5 - where they take up the same about of space in your inventory as their size - all of which are rectangular in shape.

Players should by default of course be able to see into the boxes /w the option to hide the items from view for surprise gifts.

I think gift wrapping individual items would be a cute idea for presents, but I don't support boxes that take up multiple inventory spaces.

Too inconvenient to move around with limited spaces, for instance if you wanted to move a box of 8 to a retainer but the retainer only has like 4 spaces open. You need to move items to move the whole box, or take items out of the box.

Memory and data transfer limitations, too, which the devs have complained about in the past. I would rather they optimize that to add additional inventory, armoury, or retainer space first.

Also, for MB sales, that would just encourage people selling boxes of full stacks of items, which would add to the additional difficulty of that moment where you just want a small quantity of something, but everyone is selling in bulk. (In addition to the above memory/data issues, market board sorting is already a nightmare sometimes and this would just add to that.)

Well, given that we have auto-sort functions for our inventories, creating a clear space should be too huge an issue.

People are already selling in bulk.

Sometimes it's better that way. Do you seriously want to buy shards one at a time when what you are crafting requires 99 of them?

it reminds me when NIN was new, I crafted many gears for my frds for leveling NIN,
I was thinking it would be great if i could pack the next lv gear set as one group for them... ^^;

However, by reviewing current system design, it may create some issues,
for exmaple when a player has a box used 5space,
then he may fail to obtain his important loot bcoz he doesn't notice his 5free slots are used by the one box.

btw, above gift wrapping idea would be easy to implement,
just reuse the glamour system, glamour the item with the giftbox then done^^;

Shards are already stored in separate "containers" independent of inventory space, so they don't count.

But if you were to ask if me I wanted to only ever buy ore, or tomatoes, or lumber in stacks of 8x99 then the answer remains: "No."

Just because you don't, doesn't means others don't too.

Also if some nutter sells 8x99 ... Don't buy from him.

Ya, grouping gear together for sales and give-aways is a big part of why I would like boxes.

Don't see how it would confuse people if the box visually occupy inventory space equal to its capacity.

Alternatively, we can just drop the "occupy equal space" thing ... But that could give us 8x the inventory space - or more. :p

You're voicing your opinion and support for this idea, I'm just voicing against it so that both sides and ideas can be considered. I didn't say your idea was bad; just that I don't want them to spend time on it. That's usually how suggestions on these forums work!

I recall in Diablo2 there was a mystery box took 1slot of the inventory but the box itself gave 9slot.
In addition, some mystery things would happen if you put some special item inside.

I think in ARR it could be happened if the box we are talking will also provide additional space,
ofcoz, prolly it will available thru mogShop like extra retainers. ^^;
