is posible to have an off-topic forum to talk about things no FFXIV related?
To be honest... Why would want to have an off-topic forum to discuss things that are not related to FFXIV on a FFXIV forum?
Off-topic Forums: Because General Discussion moderation doesn't take up enough of the mods' time.
There are plenty of FFXIV fan sites with active forums, just use those.
Why is so bad to can talk with the people i meet on this forums about football, music, anime/manga, movies, etc?
I think a thread marked "general discussion," should be allowed to have general discussion, not just conversations limited to FFXIV. People make off-topic posts already, might as well allow them as long as they are marked (Something like: Did anyone see last night's Dexter? [OT]).
As a result, more people would be likely to use the other boards. If you came to GD with the intent to talk about guildleves, and saw a bunch of people talking about other stuff, you'd probably be more inclined to take the discussion over to the appropriate board, right?
There is no reasonable expectation for a company to provide non related forums for visitors. It's nothing but childish entitlement to think otherwise. Your interests outside of FF is not SE's concern, nor are they obligated to facilitate them.
Eh, I disagree. S-E would do well to note what other people have an interest in. They already have taken note of the ponies. By providing a off topic forum, they would expose themselves to a ton of market research that otherwise they'd have to pay for. "Oh look, these guys are really excited about these features from this upcoming game called Tera, maybe we should look into implementing something similar," or "Wow, these guys really like this show called Game of Thrones, what is it about it that makes it so captivating? How can we provide the same quality of narrative?" Ignoring the likes and dislikes of your playerbase is retreating into Tanaka's bubble land.
And childish entitlement? Really? It's a common enough feature on just about every other forum.
