Foe Requiem Tooltip

hello. it says resistances, but would be more clear to the reader to say simply defense. all-in-all a BRD can test it by seeing if their Wind Bite has increased damage or not. Wind Bite applies Wind aspect damage over time. i think the Foe Requiem tool-tip may be misleading.

Which is also a lie. Physical attacks have no elemental aspects.

in any case, because it is indeed Wind damage, it should have increased damage due to lowering resistances with Foe Requiem. but the tool-tip for Foe Requiem could be slightly misleading to players. it lowers defense, not resistance. even a spell like Ruin, which has no aspect, gains increased damage with Foe Requiem being played.

I see you have a level 50 ARC/BRD. and am surprised you don't know that they updated the description of Foe’s requiem ages ago.

From this - Reduces all enemy elemental resistance by 10%. MP is drained while singing. Effect is lost if targets move out of hearing distance, and ends upon reuse. Cannot be used with other songs.

#1 – Gamerescape is an inaccurate information source as it is a user-updated Wiki and can get very outdated if not maintained. Try this.

#2 - As a bard’s Windbite is a physical-type ability, it isn’t magical and thus unaffected by Foe’s Requiem regardless of elemental affinity. Same thing with Flaming Arrow.

#3 – So of course a ‘non elemental aspected’ spell like Ruin is affected by the song because it works on magical resistance.

fair enough... fair enough. i wasn't playing ARC/BRD when they made this change to the tool-tip. and never noticed. so you can't really expect a player to be well informed on every change outside of their main class/job.


anyhow...

1.) gamerescape and xivdb have the same info. the only real difference in info is the user comments. and xivdb adds items that is found in the code, but not yet activated.

2.) i don't care if it is physical. if it has an elemental aspect, then it should be affected by elemental resistances. but i understand it doesn't work with Foe Requiem.

3.) you mean defense. see, that's what i was trying to correct. it's not supposed to be resistance, but defense. defense is defense... resistance is not defense. one thing is one... not the other.



in any case, i didn't come here to argue, get all snotty, or complain. i just thought it would be easier for new players to read 'defense' instead of 'resistance'. we can see both things right in our character pane, on the first page. and it's just a bit misleading to say resistance. it doesn't matter if it says magic or elemental. still just a bit misleading.
