Steps:

1. Select Dye on Woolen Shirt
2. Preview any dye (in this case Dalamud Red Dye), appears to have an appropriate matte finish
3. Apply dye to the item
4. Item appears to have an unsightly shiny finish rather than a matte finish as seen in the preview.

The shininess looks like the wet effect on gear that appears when it rains. Was it raining at the time?
