[Suggestion] Saving your skills/stats as templates.

Hey all! This is my first post here on the forums but I've been playing since the US Beta.

My Linkshell suggested that I post this idea on the forums. So here it is...

Me and some of my buddies like to occasionally play a game called Guild Wars. Guild Wars revolves around "builds" which contains 8 skills and a characters stat's. One neat thing Guild Wars lets you do with your build is save it as a template. With this you are able to freely load up new builds to match a new playing style.

I can't say for certain this idea is entirely practical for FFXIV. But it seems like most players would probably have a preferred set of skills for both playing in a party and playing solo. Of course it mostly comes in to play when switching jobs. The system as it is now definitely makes switching jobs a tad cumbersome... even with macros. So essentially what I'm saying is I think the ability to save you set of skills and stats(Attributes) and load a new set would be kind of useful.

Finally, Guild Wars also has the ability to post your "build" to the chat allowing anyone to see what skills you're using. This is probably not really necessarily but I thought I'd just throw it out there.

Not an original idea by any means... but as a game developer myself I always look to other games for ideas! Let me know what you all think!

Your concern about saving skills/stats has been brought up in several different threads. The thread in this link points out that the developers are already planning to implement it, although it won't be fully implemented for a while.

Thanks for the welcome! I was sort of taking that a steep further by saying you could save multiple skills/stats for any jobs. Technically there is no reason to tie them to a job. This idea would definitely come after implementing what the thread discussed in your link. So maybe it's not even worth mentioning, definitely did not want to beat an old horse.

If they do implement something like this, I'd imagine it'd come in a similar form to how macro sets could be saved in FF11. I do hope that they'll make it so you can back it up into a readable/editable file in our user config menu to allow customizing of our builds and macros outside of the game.
