As heavensward's content gets released we will see our characters at level 60. With potentially new actions, jobs, quests and content to accommsurvivability 60 characters, I do have a question aleashe classes.
There was word that there would be changes to the class/job system in the future. As many people not chose their class at around 35. I do wonder What are those changes going to entail?
I think outright removal of the classes would be a step backward, and would take a lot of rework for what is pretty much removing potential improvement and versatility in the game. a class's survivability is also less important in the face of a leashed open world and limited solo challenges.
Alternatively, could classes be reworked into being viable in post 50 content? Designing them to be like jobs in their own right with actions that make for a different brand of dps, tanking, or healing than its job counterpart?
Or make classes more integral to the leveling process, in whatever level cap raising that we would need to do. Though that doesn't solve the underlying issue, I imagine the exp numbers tnl will be huge, and players will be looking for any boost in those numbers. Boosts that classes could provide.
Suggestions for involving classes in the expansion are welcome. Throwing up of hands...less welcome.

TBQH I believe people are looking too much into the "removal of classes" part about the expansion. I believe what they are talking about is that future jobs coming to ff14 will be just that, Jobs with no class involvement. I don't see them removing ALL classes from the game and reworking each job, unless there will be slight tweaks to the "class" skills/spells and just do away with the class system all together.
Also I would not miss the classes as they are the generic version of each job. Granted they get the access to use FAR more cross skill abilities than the Jobs that stem from them. Either way, I can't wait for the expansion. Four jobs I can't wait to see (2 already have been confirmed) but the other two will make me make my monthly sub payment in person. And no, as it stands now, SMN most certainly beats ACN in every possible stat and ability with their Egi's. Next to Monk, and now maybe Ninja, SMN will smoke all other jobs in DPS. -

Pretty sure he misses Carbuncle itself, not the abilities of the Carbuncles. It isn't the mechanics, it's the aesthetics.
And there's no way that they'll actually drop all of the classes, it seems like it'd be too much of a rework to actually do that. -

I don't think that removal of the class system would be done. Yes small tweaks to the classes may be done. But I believe that some jobs won't need base classes as there will be a bit hard to make. For example wat class would dancer come from its much easier to make it as a job than making a base class that would probly see no other job crystal than dancer. Its not like archer were u can get two job crystals like bard or even ranger using the same base class. I just think that some jobs won't have base classes.
