Most valuable crafting stat?

I was curious what others think of as the most valuable crafting stat, craftsmanship, control, or CP. Obviously all are important, and whichever you need more of to reach the requirements of the recipe is most important, but beyond that, which stat do you increase with food?

The most obvious contenders seem to be control and CP, since once you have enough craftsmanship to finish the synthesis in x number of attempts, you don't really need more.

My bias is toward CP. Control is most easily raised with Inner Quiet, which vastly overshadows any extra control you might get from food. More CP means more attempts to raise your Inner Quiet stack. What do others think?

Personally I like to use gear and melds to get to the Craftsmanship requirement for recipes of the current patch (in the case of 2.4, this is 451 Craftsmanship), then max out Control anywhere you can with whatever options you have (likely just your offhand tool if you've hit 451 Craftsmanship) because let's face it.... everything but furniture in this game is "HQ or don't bother". For food, I would focus CP food for those super hard synths, and Control food for those synths you know you can do on your normal amount of CP, but want a boost in HQ chance for.

CP rules all for master crafting. Of course you need the others to get the required levels for recipes. But CP is the deal-breaker.

Yep. If yu can't fit in that last CP-required action, Craftsmanship and Control may mean very little.

People have covered Control vs CP above. As for Craftsmanship... You need a minimum amount to even craft things. Past that though, unless you are getting enough additional Craftsmanship to impact the number of steps used (eg from 6 synthesis down to 5), an increase to Craftsmanship can actually be literally worthless. I forget what the 'goal' number is for Craftsmanship.

CP "kind of" works the same way, though - if that +3 point isn't actually making a difference to the amount of actions you can take, it's not really worth anything; but if at +4 you're able to fit in another action it's probably the most important.

It doesn't take much extra CP to buy that extra turn. But saving a turn through craftsmanship takes a helluva lot, unless you are already really close to the threshold.

True, but in most cases, that +3 won't be what lands enough CP for that extra action, you'll probably need more like +5-10, in which case using CP food and maxing other stats with gear seems ideal. You can most certainly do things in reverse, it's just a matter of personal preference and how you weigh the market prices of materia (permanent benefit) versus food (temporary benefit).

Keep in mind that with BiS DoH gear at max melds the CP cap is 355 (without food), and only one piece has variable options for melding, the offhand tool. This means that between you and the next guy, assuming both of you have "the best gear", you'll have +3 CP where he could have up to an extra +6 Craftsmanship or +4 Control.

I'll second that. I used to be more of a CP-guy. A while ago, I messed up my BSM OH and put all craftsmanship on it (capped it out 26 or whatever). I wound up being short on control until I made the new artisan legs and feet. Turns out that the extra craftsmanship cuts down on my progress turns by 1. That alone buys a lot. I've gone 24/25 on the wootz ingot as opposed to 18/25 on the LTW items (need that one extra turn).

However, we don't really get an "option" with these stats. We HAVE to have 451/407 regardless. The rest of the stats sort of just fall in place.

CP first and foremost; Craftsmanship only if you are able to save a step, otherwise control.

Adding craftmanship and not saving a step is pointless.
