How will Ninja Gear work.

From today's live letter we learned that Ninja will be a dex based class, but will share armor with monk. How exactly will this work? For accessories they will be rolling against Bards.

For low level gear, Mnk/Brd share gear since they have both STR and DEX, they may make it so that Mnk/Nin endgame gear will both stats, or have the main stats changed based on the Job of the wearer, IE if MNK is wearing it, it will be STR and if NIN is wearing it, it will be dex.

But I also heard something weird that Yoshi said, think he said the shared Gear will only be up to 2.3 content? So maybe in the future they will each of their own gear sets?

What are everyones thought on this.

STR +?, DEX +? , DET +? etc.

Str wont do anything for Ninja, and for Monk Dex is just parry which isn't really anything as a DPS, besides Nin would have more DEX than MNK, meaning higher parry on both classes.

Just gonna have both STR/DEX on the gear. Unless he was kidding like some people are saying, but I'm not gonna comment on that.

Its easy guys, all the monk gear UP to 2.3, will have dex added to it, so ninjas can catch up in gear, NEW gear (2.4, and 2.4+) will be separate, MNK will have their own gear like now, and NIN will have their own gear with dex.

why isnt gear shared with archer then, dex, dex, and more dex ftw

Because ninja's don't look like brds, they look like mnks but different colored armor, a mask, slightly more plating while using dual blades.

Ninja in brd gear would look stupid, especially in those hats.

This is the reason btw.

Seems pretty straight forward to me. All MNK (non relic) based gear before 2.4; so tome gear, CT/ST, First and second coil, will have DEX added to it and class/job requirment expanded to include RGE/NIN.

So if we look Allagan Cuirass of Striking. It will now be equipable by MNK and NIN and include @29 DEX.

Your classes attack damage is based off Attack Power wich is derived from either STR or DEX + determination. Ranged skills for melee STR classes aren't based on DEX; Shield Lob, Tomahawk, Piercing Talon.

So monks with this gear will have their ATK power increase based on STR and NIN based on DEX plus determination. MNK will still want striking, maiming, and slaying accessories. While NIN will want Aiming.

IMO- The Tool Tip for STR and DEX will be changed for NIN as this has been a major soouce of contention for the STR v DEX debate. Keeping it for the other classes is fine as it helps new players understand they either want STR or DEX.

My thought is, mnk gear will be given dex, and mnks will have their main stat changed to dex. Why? Cause it's all but confirmed that Sam and drk are coming, and they'll more than likely be Str users. That would leave 4 classes rolling on Str and only brd and ninja on dex. Changing mnk to dex would even out the gear distribution, and nin / mnk gear would make more sense, as having both Str and dex on gear would kinda ruin the idea of itemization points, and simply make things more complicated.

So I have to go back and get aiming accessories from coil and I can throw out my STR ones on my MNK? I don't think so.
